|I think the yellow is perfect to be honest. What with night gobbos being green and black you need something to brighten it and warm it up, and the yellow makes it pop. Looks great.|
Warhammer 40K (with the models and everything) • Page 16
The new extremely light edge paints are out now, but yeah, looks amazing as is. Proper gloopy magical light, excellent.

Ooooh. Good point. I think I'll pick up a few to try.
.....again. Essentially a proof of concept/practice build, not quite sure if he's 'grand' enough to be a leader. Do like that cloak though, and any pointers for highlights for Mephiston Red ? Evil Sunz isn't cutting it, unless I white highlight, then red over that......hmmm ?
See you all in a few months.
Haven't had much painting time, as I've been occupied in spending atrocious amounts on various bits for the World Eaters, converting (my thumbs into scarred stumps) and selling the surplus to claw some cash back. Eldar brought in a hefty amount, so that swayed me into a few more Scars (dammit) to make an extra Tactical squad, two Preds, and thon irresistible new Heresy Recon squad, so suited to a scouting desert force.
But that's it. NO MORE.

For anyone vaguely interested, GW and FW are dropping all their Specialist Game stuff, once sold out gone for good, a few hopefully to some peeps who actually want the models, and the rest to EBay. So if you wanted an Epic army, BFG fleet, Necromunda gang etc, now would be the time.
Unless this is a scam to shift old stock, which given GW management of late isn't beyond the bounds.

/thinks about modding X-COM for this purpose.
Haaaaaa. That'll be why I was getting ridiculous money for my Necromunda stuff I eBayed over the weekend, almost double what I paid in the late 90's. Thought prices were a bit high recently.
Guess I'll be sticking the actual books/scenery up this weekend ! Been getting some decent bargins in the process, the standout being a £17 carry case with around £40 worth of free minatures the guy didn't want !
Tomorrow begins the Great Assembly, fifteen infantry sprues, FW parts, extra bits, and the task of forming them into a decent looking WE force. It'll be a loooong day.
The new Tau models are looking rather sexy.
The Riptide is ridonkulous. Love it!
The new Broadside pose where it's holding the railgun like a rifle is pretty badass too, although they've wasted the sculptor's time by making the missile option a no brainer.
Yeah love the Riptide and the pose on the Broadside is amazing as you say.
Only thing that annoys me about the Riptide is the big gun - the barrels seem to converge and aren't parallel, which is very annoying.
I think the whole Tau army set is my most favourite of all 40k stuff.
That's a strange one for moi......I love my mecha, FSS, Patlabor, Gundam etc, but the Tau just leave me cold.
Like the background of the Greater Good(?) and the Kroot, but the suit designs and Vespid just don't do owt.
Quite liked this fella's Dark Mechanicus (could pass as loyalist) army I found recently, something a bit different.
90 quid for a Battlebarge ? Anyone ?
The (inevitable) cancellation has made some folk go mental. Somebody sold a fleet of 14+ SM ships yesterday for half that !
Also found this gathering of rather tasty Chaos forces. Some of the work is exquisite.
Week off approaching, hopefully with a bit more effort into the WEs. Been a tad lax of late.
ED: £110 at the death. Madness !

Seen that guys blog before, he has posted a lot of his stuff on Dakka, the amount of stunning armies he produces is, well, stunning.
I really, really could have cleaned up on the SG stuff, dread to think how much Ramilies Fortresses are going for, gouging bad for the karma though. Also I'm going revisit my BFG fleet and make some improvements, wont be able to add to it now so some incentive to make it shine.
New TBS strategy game, based on 2nd War for Armageddon. Cool.

Blood Angel army finally getting towards sort of being finished, in spite of my apparent need to start a new project every week. Will definitely get some pics up once done. That guy's daemons are insane!
Just spent £400 on Tyranids. Not really sure how that happened.
Oh, and one of the new Eldar Wraithknights, but that's ok because it's a sensational model.
Easily done. But 'nids ? Were you drinking ?
/has bought extra Bloodcrusher parts, Skullcrushers for conversion, heavy weapons, bits.....
Finishing the bashing of a Mk6 World Eater, because let's be honest, how many Womble WEs have you ever seen ? Fluff says they captured production lines on Mars, so.......he's a bit.....special. Very little planning, but he's just fitted together really nicely.
/mini-rant about how CSMs always seem too similar to 'modern' types, rather than Mk3,4,5 etc
Where's that Scar whirlymabird ?
Likely a Nid codex before too long, Harpies and drop pod spore things a shoe in, because everyone gets a flyer, and GW don't like leaving gaps in the range for others to exploit, which if the current case goes against them might be a lot easier to do.
Mine thus far -
Stickmans will be better
OSS, have you seen the leak of the new Chaos thing on next months GW. You might like it.

Nids arent all that bad in 6th, its kind of brought them back to being competitive. Really though I just wanted to paint all the huge scary monsters! Just got the bare minimum of 2x10 Termigants in there, all the rest are monstrous creatures!
That .said I still want a fairly easily done paint scheme for them. Base white and washes is what I'm going to do I think.
Those nids are awesome by the way. Love that scheme
White Scar fly-me-do is similar to most of my 'projects'; in bits in the garage while I just 'finish' something else.

Oh lord, that's bloody hilarious looking. Absolutely comic and awful !
Interesting that a Lord of Battle would show up, seems to be the new dick-substitute-waving contest. A few blogs saying that folk are dismayed at this bigger-is-better approach, first the Tau suit, then the Eldar knight......
Not that they're trying to sell Apocalypse and shift quantity, oh no.
Good luck trying to fit those into a carry case! I might pick up one of those Lords though as bit parts for modelling. Not a big fan of the Daemon Skull Cannons so I might have to see whether I can chop one of those up to make a couple of acceptable ones.
It's a release a month now, I used to get all the books as they were a significant update and loads of new fluff, not so anymore. Now it's flyer, big thing, and only replace finecast with plastic rarely, as completely new stuff sells more. GW needs a head swap conversion.
Edited by 4gate at 10:52:04 04-06-2013
Well, the strategy was always to go fully over to plastic, with Finecast there as a transition medium because of the types of casts. Still, not a big fan of this recent giantification. Way too hard to transport.
It seems churlish to go from years of moaning about updates/new dexs taking too long, to moaning about them being too quick, but I'm gonna.
Daemons in particular irked me greatly. "All the stuff that was good is shit and all the stuff that was shit is good so youre going to need to buy new stuff. Also we made everything a bit shitter across the board so you need 20 instead of 10. Oh, and you know how flesh hounds cost £20 last week? Well theyre a good unit now so they cost £30 for the exact same thing. Lulz!"
Daemons in Fantasy was even weirder - they basically took the Codex and fudged a Fantasy ruleset out of it. Some really weird gaps in there, just didn't feel like there was much effort put into it.
Saying that, the big rumours at the moment is that 9th Ed. Fantasy is going to be a big, big change. Things like compendium army books rather than individual ones, massive rule changes etc. Will be... interesting if true.

Really irritated with the fascinaton for super-sized models. They don't travel well, are a pain to store and cost a small fortune. That said I caved in and bought a Wraith Knight.
Edited by Soul_quake at 11:35:06 04-06-2013
Yeah, the giant models are almost separate from the game in my mind to be honest. I buy them to paint rather than play with.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with this one?
Around '90-'94 ish my brother used to play a fair bit of Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Roleplay. If I recall he had a Chaos army amongst others and the Realms of Chaos books. I have a somewhat clouded memory of a picture showing maybe a beastman, champion or chaos warrior with a runed sword blade (which I'm convinced is vertical), the runes are Norse and translate to "Mary had a little goat so I cut its fucking throat". I can remember even checking against a mythology book with Norse runes in because I didn't believe my brother. He now has no memory of this and Google isn't being too helpful. Seemingly I didn't imagine the phrase but the image pointed to by Google (Adrian Smith Beastman) doesn't have Norse runes on it upon checking a PDF of the page.
Does anyone else remember this? Does anyone know what publication it was in? I'm certain I haven't imagined the whole thing but my description of the image may be wrong.
