I agree that Alan is in some ways nicer, he is never really nasty but in this he shows some sympathy with Pat which is quite strange. I do wonder if they made a few alterations to make Alan appeal to a new audience but I don't think he is so different that it distracts from the gags or would put off any Alan Partridge fan.

They did play a bit of out of place dubstep during the credits. I think it was a gag about him having to play rubbish music on his breakfast show and being upset because a minute or so in he turns it off, has a little moan and puts something else on. I might be wrong though I wasn't paying too much attention

It's a gag. He's putting it on to please the kids and appear 'down' and cool. But he can't stand it and keeps turning it off :D

Well, I loved it and it had people in stitches, but there you go.

Nothing else happens after that though.

I don't know why that made me laugh so much.

I enjoyed the film. I was a bit worried it wouldn't be the same but it's up there with the TV stuff for me.

Saw this a few days ago and a really loved it. Some scenes I didn't like, for example the singing in the car scene at the beginning, it served its purpose for the start of a film but didn't find it actually funny like others did. But overall it was great. As said before, more Michael would have been great (the scene at the end where he jumped in the water had the audience in tears of laughter) and slightly nastier Alan (but I guess they didn't want a nasty man for a movie). Personal favourite scene was the jingle scene :D

Just found this, it's pretty good. It's the actual opening of The Spy Who Loved Me with the Partridge narration alongside. It's amazing how well in-sync it is.

While this thread is bumped I have to mention:

"I, Partridge" autobiography on audiobook narrated by the man himself.

Fucking brilliant. Can't recommend highly enough.

It makes me think that they had it on a screen in the background when he was doing that sequence. In fact thinking about it, that's almost certainly how it was done.

The only detail they get wrong is the lemon piping.

    @estoo

Currently reading this - the chapters where he described his childhood and his chocolate breakdown had me in tears.

The audio book is even better, Coogan's inflection on the sentences make it actually improve with every read

    So true.

It's a shame they didn't include the 'soundtrack' element from the book - although I'm guessing licensing would have made it more expensive than the film.

New AP on Sky, "Alan Partridge Scissored". Not as good as MMM S2 but it's moderately amusing.

‘Hey! I’ve made mistakes, I’ve stood on the side of the sidewalk and slow hand-clapped while I watch a woman try to parallel park, you know, and I feel bad about that. And now if I saw a woman doing it now, I would shout instructions’.
