    Ha ha, yeah.

    That was up to the usual standard. More of the same really from the first series, which is perfect. I could quite happily just keep watching it every week.

    That was great. The monks bit with the door especially.

    Really enjoyed that. The demonstration of the casual walk into a party - jacket over the.shoulder, finger on opposite hand through belt loop.

    That was when I lost it. Along with his comparison to Jesus. And the demo of how to enter a stage. It was all so very Partridge.

    Still donít know what I make of this. I didnít laugh out loud once, but still need to watch it.

    My problem is all the characters seem to be so aggressively negative to AP. I know thatís the point with the character in a lot of ways but it was done so much more subtly in previous shows. The bit with the reported on the runway expansion for example - it would never happen on a real show. Breaks the illusion for me.

    Lots to enjoy in last night's ep, but it also repeated a lot of jokes from the first series (Ruth disagreeing with everything Alan says, Simon not being able to work his tech interface). Hopefully this was just refreshing everyone's memory for the new series and they start evolving the ideas further as they go on.

    I get the feeling that Jenny getting engaged might be the status change that shifts how the new series is going to work. Alan's always more interesting when he's being sidelined by an enemy.

    Same here, it's fairly good but this episode had way too many repeats of jokes from the previous series with diminishing returns.

    Listened to the Oasthouse podcasts last week as well which are pretty good, but like This Time have a few moments of brilliant comedy with a lot of bang-average stuff to wade through as well.

    @minky-kong
    Surely you are not saying the show is moribund ?
    I think it is great but I also thought the Oasthouse was great.

    I generally find most of the "on air" bits not as good as the inbetween or videos. Not sure what it is exactly. It doesn't gel like the radio show. But still has moments of gold.

    I only caught towards the end but I got the same feeling as I did previous series - it's the lead singer of a band going solo, with competent musicians behind them but just nowhere near as good.

    For me, there's Alan 1 and 2, the short lived Sky series - which was surprisingly good but kept things tight. This is just an awkward watch.

    Awkward as in not funny but you can see how it is. Sort of like how Extras compared to The Office

    Just seen the trailer for next week's episode.
    Looks like John Thompson is reprising an old character of his 😄

    I'm watching it now. They've massively strung out the physical comedy in the monastery. The only bit that has got an audible chuckle is "in space no one can hear you scream"

    Yeah, it's shit. It's like someone has watched Alan but doesn't get it.

    Itís ripe for Alan loving it, then the line being crossed and Alan becoming all moralistic

    Pretty surprised by the amount of negativity about the show. I really enjoyed it. Like many of us I have been with AP since day 1 and still love the fact we still get him, and for me, and maybe only me on here, still find him funny

    So in essence Smell my cheese you mothers.

    @DUFFMAN5

    Dont get me wrong. I really enjoyed the last series and im hoping this picks up like that did. But i still think ep 1 was as flat as a witches tit.

    It's very funny, very well written with the people writing it showing a true understanding of the character and brilliantly performed by Coogan. I'm not really sure what there is to not enjoy if you're a Partridge fan.

    I'd say it was just one of the weaker episodes when compared to other AP stuff, but still great if judged against any other recent comedy that I've watched.

    Got a few glols out of me anyway and I'm looking forward to the next episode already.

    The rehashed jokes criticism is fair but I still found it entertaining. I think it suffers a bit for being on BBC1 where comedy is usually sent to die. Itís all just a bit too safe and you canít help but feel they could get away with much more on two or iPlayer.

    That's pretty much it for me - the format and station is all wrong.

    Stick it on BBC 2 or give it to channel 4, who know what they're doing with comedy. Or just watch anything presented by Richard Madeley, who gave this zinger a few months ago which has burned in my brain.

    "If I lived in one of these apartment buildings with cladding that cost a fortune to replace I'd be up all night worrying about the costs. And that I might die in a fire"

    Alan doesn't work where he's given a high profile slot and the fame he thinks he deserves. It's why I don't like Knowing Me, Knowing You. He needs to have a pathetic existence.

    I really enjoyed it but part of me still thinks instead of hamming it up with characters like Simon and some of the backstage stuff it might be funnier to just put Alan into the actual One Show and let the other real presenters and guests cope with being in his orbit.
