The rehashed jokes criticism is fair but I still found it entertaining. I think it suffers a bit for being on BBC1 where comedy is usually sent to die. Itís all just a bit too safe and you canít help but feel they could get away with much more on two or iPlayer.
Perhaps. There's not much they couldn't do on BBC1 though if they wanted to. AP has never been about crossing boundaries etc.

I feel like they're keeping some stuff in their back pocket for the future. This felt like a 'story' episode

I thought it was pretty great. The first 30secs and last 30secs were laugh out loud funny to me and the rest very enjoyable.

I agree with the comments about the overt hostility to Alan from Lollie Adifope's character. That didn't work before and disappointed to see them do that joke again.

It's been 30 years now and I haven't got a problem with the character evolving (not revolving). Gibbons era Alan is different to Ianucci era Alan, but the quality of writing is just as good in my opinion.

I thought the constantly disagreeing with him was overdone before the end of the last series; they need to think of a different way for her to hate on him. And they should give her a few more reasons for her to take such a dislike. As it stands I see her as the bad guy and I feel irritated when she appears

    ďWhat about the caravan?Ē

I still think Steveís best stuff was in the Alan Partridge books and Mid Morning Matters.

That was the one section I thought was flat, shame as in the original I like the character and his routine.

I watched a bit of this last night, haven't watched Partridge since back in the day when it was hilarious/genius, thought last nights effort was poor in every way, I don't know why they bothered bringing it back.

    Loved it.

No massive lol moments but a constant feeling of being amused, and I'm glued to Coogan's facial expressions & manner.

Hignfy then this is pretty good telly for a Friday night.

It's all the subtle things that just add up. All the nods to the past. Love it. The resurgence of cheeky monkey was anxiously a massive nod to the past but I couldn't help but be amused during the computer graphic in the young offenders segment. The street sign was King Road. Which is the same road name he said he lived at when he got cautioned for waving a traffic cone around.

The theme music changed this week, Alan mentioned the wacka-wacka guitar in last weekís episode and talked about change:

ďFirst they came for the theme tune but I did not speak out because Iím not a theme tune.
Then they came for the title graphic but I did not speak out because Iím not a title graphic.
    Then they came for meÖĒ

So Iím expecting the title graphic to change next week.

Yeah any weakness in the writing is papered over massively by Coogan's performance.

Itís actually really good - especially compared to other comedies on TV - but that Ruth section (the one who doesnít agree with him) is painful at times. Feels a little naff.

He needs to do more out and about stuff. Visiting places. A bit like his adventures in Scissored Isle.

Yeah this, just observing Partridge in the wild is great entertainment in and of itself. Coogan has fully morphed into the character, his facials are next level

@minky-kong And that is absolutely fine, as I said I thought the section in KMKY was brilliant, TT, not so much👌👍 Still thought the rest of the show and last weeks were really good. The tension between Alan and Jennie is wonderfully done.

    Yeah the tension...
If I remember, the first series was slow and steady and ended with a massive and hillarious blow up.

The best stuff is always the in studio on air bits. The sketches are a bit hit and miss and the behind the scenes stuff feel like they could thrive as a separate show
