@RaymondLuxuryYacht sounds like an Alan Partridge idea for a show I'm going to have to check it out.
I'm still waiting for monkey tennis personally.

Hopefully this is the setup to another Travel Tavern style of series. I was surprised they glossed over Alan and Jenny falling out at the end of the first series of This Time, but surely they canít do the same here.

Could go another way, with Alan becoming the Ďvoice of forgotten middle Englandí and broadcast on GB News
    or whatever itís called.

Hoping for the former, that latter would be too depressing and realistic!

I think they definitely need to go somewhere else with it. There was a few really good moments in the second series but it's definitely run its course now.

Yeah it wasn't as good as the first series overall and I thought there were big chunks that didn't work all that well, like the music segment at the end of ep5.

I rewatched the first series not long ago and there were bits that genuinely cracked me up like Alan's allergic reaction or the interview about the historical use of bad language report (in particular that bit with him going in between the sliding bookcases and the strangled "yeah" that follows is sublime). Can't really recall anything in s2 that was anywhere near to that.

Although there seemed to be more Lynn this time around, which is always a bonus, and does make me think that as good a character Alan is, he's defined by the supporting characters. The highlights always were his interactions with Lynn, Sidekick Simon (and Michael before him) etc. There isn't the same with Jennie.

Also things like his interviews with Matt Smith etc, aren't a patch on the stuff from way back, like the Chris Morris interview about farming that is still one of the finest things ever filmed. But I know a big part of that is that it's a different writing team of course.

Still decent though but I don't think we need a third series of this format.

The great thing about that is that swapping the two roles doesn't make any less sense.

Nah, a lot of Coogan's performance in This Time is basically him doing a variation of a Richard Madeley impression.
