My character's called Rhaegrim if anyone's about. Only level 18, but I'm in not in any rush.

So just started playing LOTRO. I said this in the LOTRO group but it looks pretty dead in there.

My missus has a couple of lvl 65 accounts so she will help me get started.

I have chosen Man/Captain race/class which seems to be what I am best at (brute force).

    Any hints/tips?

Anybody still playing? I started yesterday and have no idea what I'm doing. I do, however, have a very nice hat with a feather in it.

I'm usually around in the evening (on Snowbourn). No idea if any other EG guys are.

I don't have a hat with a feather in it, but do have many hats.

Cool. I may start a new character on Snowbourn since that seems to be where all the EGers are / were.

Is it still well populated in general? I stopped playing the game about three months after release and I'm tempted to give it another go again.

This, even though I'm just about to start another MMO. D'oh!

I started a new character on Snowbourn last night but got a bit bored doing a quest where I had to punch a shit load of spiders in a cave.

Hmm... started playing and it mostly looks great... except for the actual interface of the game and the main menu. Both of those look atrocious, even with all the settings on Ultra High. Is it meant to be so low res?

Shit, just found out I've downloaded a low res client rather than the high res! Going to re-download.

Hmm... well I've got the high res one and the actual in-game graphics look better, but not the UI - that still looks like a fuzzy arse.

    Try re-scaling it.

If I make it smaller it looks ok, but then it's TOO small! It's not the end of the world like, I'll still play it... it's just a bit of an annoyance.

Isengard went live today. No idea if it's any good, as I'm stuck at the log-in screen due to all the F2P plebs logging in...

Rise of Isengard is quite dreary and incredibly repetitive. It lacks the sense of Epic that made Moria (and even Mirkwood) feel so much fun. If you're not running around collecting kindling for Dunlendings, you're running around slopping the floors of Isengard. I kid you not.

I'd only suggest investing if you're a big fan of the game or have a few Level 65s sitting around. And even then, be ready to have it finished in a few days. Oh and despite the level cap moving to 75, you'll be lucky to finish at level 73 once you've finished with it...
