Eldar is back online, by the looks of it... Let's see how much I owe to unlock my house...

Looks like their bringing the lowest populated servers online first to steer new people in the right direction. Annoying but the right decision in the long run I suppose.

Playing through the new Epic line at the minute and it's ace. Bioware can boast all they want about their use of the ''fourth pillar'' but Turbine - as this chapter proves - have been doing it - and well - for ages.

Cash Store has a lovely cosmetic hood in it. Yeah, everybody's wearing them but they look ace.

So is there a Eurogamer guild then? What server are you guys mostly on, Snowbourn?

I can't get this to bloody work! I still got the hash tag error, so I tried a fresh install of the disc and get the same thing. I'm now trying a fresh download from the site, but my ISP clearly throttles that something hellish.

I downloaded last night and installed this morning, so I'm ready to have a go. Have we decided on Snowbourn, and who the hell's in charge, anyway? :)

it'll probably download another 10gig of patches before you can play.

I think the hash thing may be related to how busy the servers are. I had it for ages then kept trying and for whatever reason it stopped reporting it and worked just fine. It's weird.

I'm going to be away on work now until Monday so if anyone wants to go ahead and put it together, by all means do.

Let's just say Snowbourn to nail it once and for all.

    totally impartial adjudicator:

Well, it all seems to work OK so far. I've created a character but not done much more than that.

One word of warning to new players - if you think the server is quiet, it's because you start in a newbie garden instance rather than the proper game world. So it may seem as if there's not much going on, but that's simply because you're not in the game world proper at that point!

Have horse prices been changed because I see where one revenue source will almost certainly come from with a free player, they can only hold 2 gold.

    A horse costs 4.

Nope, there's still plenty to do as a freeloader. I played on and off for years and never really hit what is now paid content.

Ah they've added a cheaper horse (it's slower and has lower health) but only costs 200sp, you can also get it earlier (level 15 for VIPs, 20 for everyone else). Presumably you still have to do your driving test. :-)

Oh and they have changed the standard horse pricing as well, 500sp is a frigging bargain in comparison to how long it took me to save up 4g the first time!

I think there's a Level 5 horse too. My guildies were on about it the other day.

So I'm about to roll a lovely new character now we're set on Snowbourne, anyone in particular I need to add?

Also, did everyone get 1000 Turbine Points to start off? I assume that's for buying LOTRO in the first place on a shiny disc.

I got a load of free points for logging-in on the run-up to the F2P switch (and I've already spent most of them) and I'll be getting 500 a month ''free'' for being a lifetimer.
