I don't think I like that live action trailer. It's well done for a fan project, but I doubt I'd pay to see something like that. It's too similar to the animation, making me think I'd just rather watch that.

For a live action Akira to be worthwhile it needs to be different enough. I'd expect something that's a cross between Blade Runner and The Matrix. One thing that Akira was influenced by and another that it inspired. As long as it retains Tetsuo, Kaneda and Neo Tokyo they should try and do something new with it.
