Have you found the key to the two locked doors yet?
Brilliantly, I had found that key and kept going through one of the doors, didn't realise it opened two doors! What a fool I am.
Made it out now, think its one or two more rooms until I've got my first ending

Registered 16 years agoThis game is stonking! I've played this for almost 2 days solid (have time off work so don't hate me
), I've unlocked every ending and this is just beautifully crafted. I've never seen such amazing plot and writing since the days of Deus Ex / Planescape Torment, which is kind of sad really. I'm still putting the pieces together now way after I've finished, which to me is the sign of an awesome story.
I haven't played such an atmospheric game since Silent Hill and I recall on one ending I didn't actually want to read on because what was happening was scaring the shit out of me. Inspired soundtrack too. GOTY... and I've played everything this year. -

Registered 16 years agoGot ending 3 last night (the one where Ace tells Lotus to follow him because he's got something to show her, and Clover kills Seven, Santa and June with the axe before killing Junpei), not even joking when I say that it shit me right up, couldn't sleep because it freaked me out so much! Great writing.
So a question for those of you who have finished: do all the playthrough endings tie up? Because I also got ending 5 (where you find Lotus stabbed to death, before getting stabbed yourself and it doesn't reveal who killed you (who I am now assuming was Ace and this is where he was taking Lotus in ending 3)) Obviously they won't always tie up in that I assume in the good endings you escape, but does Snake always die in room 3? Does Clover always go batshit mental at the end?
The obvious answer is "just play it again!", which I will do of course, just wondering if that's how it works (as you retain your memories for subsequent playthroughs)
Absolutely superb game though, the mystery just keeps you coming back for more. Finding out certain things about characters on the next playthrough really adds so much depth to it (e.g. after my first playthrough I assumed Lotus was just a slutty dancer or something (who was surprisingly good at numbers), but turns out she's some kind of computer genius) -

Would hope it did well in America to be picked up here, or at the very least pave the way for other adventure games like Dangan Ronpa on PSP to make it over. Does Aksys publish in Europe? Guess it could be worth asking Rising Star or Ghostlight.
The developer of 999, Chunsoft has another interesting looking DS game called Love Zombie out this month in Japan. -

Registered 16 years agoGiven that Rising Star brought over Lux-Pain it wouldn't surprise me if they release 999, a game that's had much better reception from critics and gamers. They should be announcing their Q1 releases soon. -

Registered 17 years agoWhat an excellent game. I initially was put off by the pace of it, but the more i've played it the more I'm enjoying it. really enjoying the story thread I'm getting.
Does anyone know if playing it a second time I'll have to sit through all the text or if i'll be able to speed run it a bit? -
US publisher Aksys offered people a chance to send in questions they'd put to Chunsoft and looks as if they've answered a whole bunch of them.
Aksys page warns of spoilers but for those that have completed it you can read on the official page under the answers section:

Depends on which options you choose, but for the most part you can skip the text that you've already read. By the time you get to your last couple of runs, you'll be able to skip most of it as you'll have gone through every room.gif)
Agree though, absolutely superb, the story (obviously) gets more developed with every playthrough and has some of the most memorable characters of any game I've played. -

Registered 17 years agoI'm loving the way on which I keep changing my mind, one minute I wont trust one person, next it'll be someone else. lots of finger pointing lots of tension. there are a few moments where I've thought a line was a little misplaced or didn't seem suitable perhaps a bit OTT, but it soon gets brushed over and onto the next interesting moment.
Some of the descriptions for what is seen have bordered on horrific, making some horrible mental images.gif)
hats off to the dev on this it strikes a perfect balance and is something my DS has longer for from the moment it was put together on the production line. -

Registered 16 years agoA couple of the endings put the shits right up me as well I must say. The story comes to a very satisfying conclusion in the "true ending" in terms of tying most of it up.
Which ending did you get out of interest? -

Registered 16 years agoAbsolutely, I got Ghost Trick on release but played it for a bit before returning to finish three more playthroughs of 999 (playing Ghost Trick now though, also excellent)
I'd say you're two thirds of the way through, maybe a bit more. Enjoy

Registered 17 years agoBlimey i got a very very abrupt ending. it has however fueled me in going back to the game.
came out of a lift, found Lotus dead on the floor, then got stabbed in the back and died. "bad ending"
wonder how that happened. -

Registered 17 years agoI've had 2 more endings I found a submarine and everybody got murdered, which was quite shocking very good indeed. now all i need to do is figure out the branches and which ones I've taken. -

Registered 17 years agoIi've found one massive branch in the story door 3, I ignored it on my first playthrough and then bottled it on the second and thrid then thinking I had taken that option, it's massive development in the story now and I'm near to what could be the best ending.
Picked up Theresia as well so I shall report ont hat when I've given it a battering. -

Registered 14 years agoEnjoying it, but the fucking tutorial/instruction sections are a bad joke that simply should not be in the game at all. The eccentric English needs sorting out in places too, in the areas where it's not made redundant by the visuals. Good game though, more of this sort of thing, please. -

Registered 16 years agoI'm currently on my final play through, this one for the true ending. I got a bit burned out getting a few of the other endings so I wanted to wait a while for this last one (though perhaps not this long).
So anyway, I'm at the point where Junpei is about to free Snake from the coffin. The Ace thing revealed in the "safe" ending hasn't been discovered by anyone, leaving that little shit Santa as chief baddie for the moment. I had a feeling he'd pull something at some point, but I didn't think it'd be the gun
One great thing about this game is how information about the characters and back story picked up during each play through gives a much fuller picture of what's happening as you go for the true ending. As it stands it's only Junpei and June whose connection to the previous "game" is not quite clear to me, and I can't wait to see how it all ties together. -

Yeah mate, I went with videogamesplus.ca
Definitely go for it mate, one of the best DS games I've played and the only game I've happily played through six times in a row.
Fab - it all comes together in a brilliant way I think, you're on the brink of some major revelations

Registered 16 years agoTrue ending achieved. Holy shit. Holy shit.
It took me ages to get to sleep last night because I was trying to process what happened. I'll post some thoughts later but for now I'll just say that while I wasn't entirely happy with where the story ended up (much like Heavy Rain and Deadly Premonition), the journey there was absolutely tremendous.
Most shocking revelation in the game:
Clover is 18 o_O -
Just started playing this at lunch, and am part way through the first puzzle.
Can someone just give me a yes/no answer to the following, just so I can concentrate on work this afternoon?
I'm in the original flooding room. I have both briefcases, and the red key. I've found the note with the red/blue triangles, and the code on the back of the picture. The note implies it has two numbers for the red case, and two numbers for the blue case. I'd thought I need to flip the paper upside down to get the final two numbers for red case, but that doesn't work.
So, my question : Am I looking for a second red/blue note?
Cheers.
