Cheers for the flowchart. So those little dialogue options are important. I actually did take the bookmark during one playthrough, thinking it might be important, but then must have continued down a path that rendered it irrelevant. Looking forward to the true ending, hope it doesn't turn out to be an anticlimax. I do have a bit of a theory about how it might end... |

Registered 16 years agoIt's a proper epic, at least in terms of length! I thought it was an incredible end though, especially after piecing together everything from all the other endings etc.
Ordered the sequel from import today, just can't wait any longer

Registered 10 years agoYeah, the ending really is brilliant and has a minor twist/cliffhanger designed to mess with your mind a little. A gem. -

Registered 17 years agoWell, it's fair to say I didn't expect that.
Although I was right in my theory that Zero was Akane - just a hunch I had right from the start - everything around it was a bit of a mindfuck, to say the least. I'm still not sure if I've grasped it all.
I had so many questions during the credit sequence, most of which were answered in the post-credits cut-scene..gif)
The ending really was fantastic though, especially how it was delivered in the context of the game. -

Registered 16 years agoThe scenario writer answers a lot of questions about the game here. I remember that page helping to clear up a lot of the confusion I felt over the endgame's mindfuckery.

Registered 15 years agoJust bought and played this in preparation for the sequel, and have to say I really enjoyed. It has niggles (well-documented by most reviewers) but the twisted plot carries the day.
It's games like this that make me love my DS - totally unique! -

Hope it comes to the UK. Had this next to my bed since finishing Dangaropna for another playthrough, but if there is an option where I don't have to do the puzzles and just enjoy the story then this is perfect. -

Registered 15 years ago$19.99 for new cover or $29.99 for original cover from videogamesplus plus postage (I would guess $7.49). All in Canadian dollars so cheaper than it looks if you are used to US$ -

Registered 15 years agoApparently iOS one is toned down as well as missing the puzzles although it has an extra ending. Personally quite happy with original DS one. Coincidentally finally started VLR on 3DS after fearing the save bug (and reading plot summarues of 999 to remind me of what happened as it has been years since I finished it (all endings of course)) -

Registered 9 years agoYeah the iOS one is effectively a proper visual novel - no puzzles at all.
I downloaded it but never got far as ran out of room on my phone. Still can't work out how to remove "other" from an iPhone despite numerous attempts.
I have the DS one at home, only reason I haven't fired it up again is because of having to do the puzzles every single playthrough! But after playing VLR again this year, and finishing Steins;Gate, AND Zero Escape 3 announced, fancy another visual novel type game and have wanted to replay this for ages... -

Yeah great shout. Sounds like they are properly redoing it so could well do!

All three games have had such distinct art styles, will be interesting playing 999 again potentially with VLR style graphics.
Actually leaning towards PS4 for these, these and the Danganronpa PS4 releases on the big screen...amazing. -

Registered 16 years agoI'd hate for them to redo 999 in the VLR graphical style, it's the art that has put me off playing any more of VLR. I much prefered 999s style. -

From those screens looks like art style retained and just now higher res/redrawn I dunno but you know what I mean! -

Registered 9 years agoThis appears to have been released on PS4 and I had absolutely no fucking idea! SOLD! -
Well actually turns out absolutely fucking nowhere has it even listed for sale, and with Persona 5 out next week will have to wait for a sale rather than £54.99 on the store!
