Any recommendations? (smartphones and netbooks don't qualify)

Browsing experience is the most important bit here.

I don't care about apps, media capabilities, cameras, storage, battery life, 3G connectivity, etc.

Destined purely for -sofa- internet browsing.

There is the Apad which seems cheap but slow and outdated softwarewise.

Archos make some too, but there are not many competitors to the iPad yet... early next year there may be better prospects.

Here's a vid of it in action, it looks very speedy and responsive compared to similarly priced tablets. I'm waiting of the 3G version to launch next year personally but for people just wanting a basic Wi-Fi tablet it looks like a bargain.

Do the Dixons group have some kind of exclusivity on the Vega? I like the look of the product, but don't want to get ripped off by high-street stores. If this appeared on Amazon though it'd be very tempting.

Good price, only a resistive touch screen though (where as the Vega is capacitive), and videos of it on Youtube look choppy at best

Hmmm, the price and spec look good, but the complete lockdown of Android to all things Amazon is a bit off-putting. Could be interested if someone manages to get a custom rom on it.
