Hey, can you explain in a bit more detail? I'm seeing green lights across the board, so not sure what the problem is.

It's better now, but there was a period of around half an hour there where it was very slow.

Again, could be linked to the "research" post which hasn't been resolved, with the intrusion of scorecardresearch. A quick google revealed that blogs/sites that have this running (and it's via a script or Technorati it seems) slow the fuck down when there (scorecardresearch's) server is slow:

"The sites which are having the problem include code from Technorati, which itself includes code from extreme-dm.com, which includes a reference to a script on the site b.scorecardresearch.com. For some reason, that script is not loading correctly, and it is not marked as inessential to the page, and so the page load is blocked.

This is an example of why including scripts from a 3rd party site in your website is a dangerous thing to do. Do you trust everyone that the owner of that script trusts?"

Actually I blocked and cleared everything I could find about that scorecardresearch.com and that site has been nice and speedy for me ever since.

    /anecdotal evidence FTW!

DDevil, how did you find and how did you remove it? My internet speed has slowed the fuck down radically over the past two-three weeks, and I'm sure it's got something to do with this.

At the moment I just want rid of it to see if it does speed everything up, and then if it does, stop coming to EG until they clear it so I don't get it again. It's painful. No Malware (run Avast, Malware Bytes, SpywareTerminator and tried another one and none find anything) on the system but it's just too slow to use. 360/PS3 run fine, and speedtest shows fine.

Might try Chrome but this is silly having a use a different browser for one website :/

Oh Jesus Christ, please tell me Chrome has smooth scrolling...

Site still seems sluggish using Chrome.

    It is still slow with Chrome but works alright with IE, so I'll use that for now. ;_;

Nothing running in the background and tried on two different computers. I tried IE and it seems a lot better but the ads started to eat away at my soul so back to slow-ass Firefox now :D

Is the page slow to be served, or are the images taking ages to pop in?

Yo, got any more info? Is it slow all the time, or in waves? What's your ISP? Got any Firefox addons?
  • Deleted user 6 April 2011 18:46:48
isp is virgin media and the page hangs on 'connecting to images.eurogamer.net' 7 out of every 10 requests. Um, the only addon thingy I have installed is download helper.

    Back to being shit again.
iPad 2 using safari, virgin media 10mb as ISP.
Usually times out the first time then I refresh and it works. But this is happening for every page!
