Registered 16 years agoJust picked this up today.
I should be able to get a game in before Easter is over, right?
Apparently after PSN is done installing said patches, I've a 6 hour+ install of the patches to look forward to again in game too.
Why on earth could they not separate out gameplay patches from DLC. -

Registered 17 years agoReckon it took me well over 6 hours to install and there's been 12 months of additional patches since then. If it takes you over 12 hours before you can play I wouldn't be surprised. -

Think the last time I updated, the 2GB (?) patch downloaded while I was at work, and it only took a few minutes to sort it out in-game. Probably when that huge Italian track was added.
Haven't touched it since however...... -

Registered 16 years agoLeft it to carry on overnight, thankfully the in game update part didn't need any button presses.
Giving the PS3 a bit of a rest now and I'll crack on with it later.

Registered 12 years ago@kingcrowbar - you can't install all the patches in one go, it'll fail. You need to download one, cancel downloading the next one, install the one patch, load up the game for any in-game install (which happens from a certain point onwards - 1.08, I think), rinse and repeat until you've got them all. It's a tedious pain in the arse. -

Yup. I can vouch for this. You can do the first 7 I think in one go, then the rest one at a time. Took me an entire day to sort out.

Registered 16 years agoGuess I was lucky, installed up to about 1.05 and got impatient, cancelled and had a look at what was there.
Then thought I might as well wait so I can get the login bonus and seasonal stuff, so went back to updating.
Unlocked up to National A so I can at least go online with it.
Enjoyed doing online GT5 with EGers a few years ago (although I do drive like an 80 year old). -

Registered 12 years ago@eightbitboy - I had trouble syncing trophies this morning. Think there might be a problem at Sony's end. -
Oh for God's sake. Why does it have to be so tiring for completists like me?
I love PD because they're the only ones who'd make you drive a lunar rover on the moon in a racing sim. I hate PD because they're the only ones who'd manage to make that devoid of any fun whatsoever.
This knocking over cones shit, and that awful kart racing, ffs why? Fuck off.
edit: but then, hotlapping the Ring in all sorts of crazy cars... gold.

Registered 20 years agoWell, after a good few hours and following the guide above it's all installed and correct.
It's a much nicer start to the game (once you're in) compared to 5; finished the Sunday Cup and had a mess around in the menus. It does tear in-game, which is a shame, but no real biggie as I can look past it. -

Registered 8 years agoSo... How 'bout that track creator?
Anyone tried it yet? As I understand it you have complete control over the track (to an extent of course, no 90% angled hills or mile wide track widths), meaning in theory players should be able to recreate tracks from real life that aren't in the game. All done from an app for Apple and Android devices which some people are complaining about, but I'm actually glad to have it that way as it should mean better functionality.
Probably going to have a play around with it and revisit the game over the weekend, looking at this thread it's kind of crazy how quickly this game died, though maybe not that crazy when you consider all the things polyphony did wrong with the game in terms of its release. -

Registered 16 years agoI only got this when I bought my PS3 quite recently, so I've no idea what state this game launched in. Going by the size of all the updates though, there must have been a fairly substantial amount added since release.
Does this track editor require the external app, or can it be done in-game? -
Also I've been playing the psp gran turismo game (don't ask
), and the way the game sells you the cars really does highlight the amount of pointless cars that are in the game. There are some cars that are literally the exact same as other cars other than the year they were released. Same paint jobs, same performance figures, just one year difference.
I understand that they want to keep all of the standard cars for gt7, but there is no point in having 20 different original mx5s when they are all exactly the same other than minor cosmetic differences. If they picked the best versions if each model you'd probably knock off a third to half of the total car list, and as a result turning the cars all into premium models suddenly becomes a much easier task.
GT7 is going to need to be a massive step up over GT6 for it to do well, they won't get away with ps2 car models and shite car sounds when every other game has moved so much further ahead in both graphics and sound.
