@DFawkes you can only do it through the app, you don't need to connect to your game or anything though, just create the track, upload it to the servers, and download it in game.

Edit: you can also share tracks online, that's pretty cool. I don't have much hope for my track creating skills but I'm sure that thanks to the community there will be an abundance of great tracks.

I heard the track editor was available, but didn't pay much attention. I've just built and transferred a track and will see how it looks in game later today. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Given I've not got a smartphone or tablet, I'm a little narked.

Why they couldn't have just put it in the fucking game? You know, where everyone could have used it, instead of this exclusion bollocks. You need the game to race on them anyway, so it's insanity.

Yeah doesn't look like I'll be actively making use of it other than downloading tracks from others (which is still great to be honest).

I'm surprised they're still supporting the game to this level - and at no extra cost - not sure how big the audience is these days but would've thought most players moved on at this stage.

If it's any help you can run an emulator on a pc and use the app through that, works fine from what I've heard.

I don't have a PC, but I could probably ask nicely if I could borrow my housemate's iPad :)

That's not really my point though, as it doesn't explain why they couldn't have just developed it as part of the game. Locking such a significant and worthwhile function away in an exclusive app is even more dumb than the stuff Ubi pulled with Unity.

More people would use it if the editor was in-game, but having it arrive so late plus it being separate to the host platform, means a lot fewer people will care as it splits the potential audience.

Looks like you can't just go online and download other player's tracks unless they're in your friend list (am not bothering with clubs and all that). Great design as always.

You definitely can, I've been on the gt planet forums and I've added a couple of tracks from there onto my list no problem.

Just follow a link to their profile and then save their tracks from there, really simple and easy.

Thanks Matt - so there is a non-direct route at least (I only checked GT6's menu itself). Will have to see whether I'll jump through the hoops as my CBA level is rising consistently when it comes to firing up the game (as much as I like it).

Yeah, I'm a bit underwhelmed. I'm sure people will make some good tracks and I'm sure it will be awesome with a bit more functionality and built into GT7 from scratch, but I think Forza 6 has put the final nail in the coffin. That, and all the folk I used to race with online have moved on.

    RIP. God bless.

Yeah I don't understand why they didn't put in a database for all the player created tracks in the game, I appreciate that functionally it's a lot easier to do the track creation stuff on a tablet, but at least bring track sharing to the game itself.

It's a fantastic addition, but the integration is baffling.

I don't know why they didn't just take the course maker from GT5 and dumped it into GT6 from the get go - they wasted all this time to develop the update but the audience actually using it will be pretty small. Still, fair play for delivering it at long last instead of just quietly dropping it.

While I really liked GT6, preferred it very much over GT5 and got hundreds of hours out of it, I doubt I'll get a PS4 just because GT7 will be released on it.

What Yamauchi needs to do is focus on what's important and *listen to the fans* - while I appreciate what he tries to do with GT (essentially a car encyclopedia in game form which is why he kept all those PS2 models) it's not really what his customers want and it makes the game look worse in terms of quality and consistency. It's so simple but that requires willingness to change and he seems like a stubborn chap set in his own ways.

The competition has caught up (and overtaken) the GT franchise and as sad as it makes me I don't think it's even remotely as relevant as it used to be in the PS1/PS2 days.

I can't believe that after 6 iterations, the AI is still absolutely woeful.

I used to love GT in the past, and it still looks great... but that sound, for crying out loud

Yes, I've played a fair bit myself and that tire squeal makes me sick to my stomach.

Engine sounds too. I wonder how you can record car sounds with professional equipment and then it sounds awfully bad compared to the lowest-quality cameraphone recordings of car noise you can find on Youtube?

Yeah that engine sound is absolutely awful, pretty unacceptable tbh.
