Given a choice, I would settle for missing out on top 4 if it meant Arsenal won the Europa League. It's a big trophy and seen as such across Europe. I don't know why it's held in such low regard by PL fans. Edited by SuperCoolEskimo at 17:10:16 05-04-2013 |

Registered 12 years agoIts held in low regard because the teams competing for it have a genuine chance of qualifying for CL football, which most people would seemingly prefer.
In leagues with less spaces and more dominant top teams, its something you can concentrate on in earnest.
Again, its because we have too many CL places. -

Registered 14 years agoI'd love to win the Europa League it would be fucking amazing. It unites players and will attract quality attention in terms of players. However, I'd like Spurs to play in the CL more. Everyone at the club has been singing from the same CL-qualification hym sheet. Even AVB intimated that people should judge whether he's an upgrade on 'arry if we don't "reach our objectives."
Now, if we f.ex had quality cover for Lennon, Bale, Defoe I wouldn't be so concerned about forthcoming league fixtures but we simply don't. The club and its players have explicitly said CL or season a failure. I don't want to lose Bale, or Lennon, or Dembele etc. and I would argue the risk is greater if we can't offer them CL football. So let's focus on that and start Europa League games with Dempsey, Holtby Adebayor, Livermore etc. and do our very best. Fine by me.
I can't see a problem with that reasoning and can't really see how my "credentials" as a fan can be taken into question. -

Registered 11 years agoBesides, a good EL run will help Spurs if they want to push on to the next level. Going into the KO stages of the CL and managing their league form is something they will have to do if they want to get where they're aiming for over the next few seasons, so surely this is all good practice. -

Registered 14 years agoIt's good practice if you rotate your squad accordingly and not play your strongest team twice within three days of one another several times a season. -

Registered 14 years agoBut we have Dempsey, Adebayor, Sigurdsson, Holtby, Livermore, Allen.
They are all good players who could and should be starting, imo.
Anyway, we don't agree and that's fine. -

Registered 12 years agoIs there something wrong with holtby? You paid a release fee, i thought he would be playing more. -

Registered 14 years agoNo idea, looks decent to me. IN fact, seeing that second string would only heighten my passion for the games. I love being able to run the rule over squad players.
Anyway, we're 3rd and still in the tie, so let's see. I'm fully behind AVB no matter if we get 5th and Basel beat us in the next leg. He's perfect for us. I just hope he doesn't get poached. -

Registered 16 years agoHoltby was one of the better players in last nights tie. He seems to link up well with Bale too. Dempsey is the one who seems to bring very little and Adebayor seemed to be a truly hopeless hold up man. -
Holtby started against Basel. -
