The law is an ass.
Not that I don't pirate stuff, I just don't consider it a moral issue.
I would argue though that it's on SKY/content providers in general to adapt to this change. As much as I believe I'm not owed anything by right and that if I want something I'll probably have to pay for it, I don't believe I owe them anything and that if I can get it for free I will.
SKY have a football service, and if I want to use that service then I believe I should have to pay for it, but if I can watch football elsewhere for free, it's up to SKY to convince me that I should be watching SKY instead. I don't give a shit if they've got some piece of paper saying they've got exclusive rights to broadcast football. -

Registered 7 years agoI know what you're saying, but it doesn't really work like that when the alternative isn't legal (or a legal grey area, anyway). There are black markets in just about every product going, and so to paint it as market forces at work is fairly disingenuous.
However, it absolutely can lead to an improvement for the consumer. Would something like Spotify exist without the rise in 'alternative' ways to get music? I'm not sure. (Although it's worth noting in that case that it hasn't particularly benefited the majority of content creators, i.e. the artists in this case)
edit: I've wandered a bit off topic there, don't really want to get bogged down in a classic piracy discussion.

I worked in music retail pre spotify around the time of the emergence of Napster and they absolutely wouldn't have adopted the current methods nearly as quickly without the pressure. They were stuck in the past and were unable to understand or adapt nearly quick enough. It was obvious to most of the young people but the heads were dinosaurs.

This may have been asked before but has anyone tried out that app on one of those Android mini PC TV sticks?

Registered 9 years ago@fletch7100 I just checked that out and the £4.99 only gives you access to SSN and highlights but not live sport unless you are already a Sky Sports subscriber separately otherwise that'd be a great deal -

I'm not a paying sky user and still use the app
On iPad search for sky sports TV , the click on the iPhone apps. It's usually the first app on the list
Not the greatest quality when screen is stretched on an IPad but for a fiver per month rolling subscription it's not too bad

Registered 9 years agoAh I see what you mean; I was looking at the iPad app which is quite different. Might take it up when the season rolls around again since there's not much point paying for it over the summer. -

Twitter is basically meaningless.
The father of Gonzalo Higuain, Jorge, says that nothing has been agreed between #Arsenal and Real and that Juve are still in running. #afc -

Registered 15 years agoWatching England U20s vs. Israel (couple of Everton lads starting) - looks like England's problems will continue for the foreseeable future as tactics-wise it's just like watching the seniors: slow side-to-side passing possession, then a long ball or two to attempt a break down the channels, invariably resulting in a dead end.
On Eurosport btw.
