Both parts of that are genuinely incredible. 1) That theres a 10k per match clause and 2) Wenger would rather keep a talented player on the bench than pay it. It beggars belief. |

Registered 14 years agoAs I posted in the Arsenal group, a couple of things stand out - first, why has this only come out now? And secondly, why mention the times he came on in the 65th and 67th minute? -

Registered 16 years agoIn other news, apparently the referee from the Arsenal v Villa match has been dropped after his performance on Saturday. Seems a trifle harsh to me, perhaps the FA are changing their policy on these things and we will see more of it. Making the referees work more pressurised seems like an odd way to go if my supposition holds weight. -

Registered 12 years agoThat doesnt happen. Its more often than not a complete coincidence that he doesnt get a game after he is perceived to have had a howler (which he didnt).

Yeah, you're probably right. Most likely it's an injury or something I guess.

Registered 12 years agoThat is some incredible business done by Spurs, if those two reports are true. Post Bale Spurs is far better than when he was there (assuming Soldado works out). -
What if they keep Bale.... -

I've answered it twice. From a club other than Arsenal no. From arsenal yes, but our relationship with them is different to yours.
Again I don't expect you to answer because you've skipped the question twice already.
Would you consider a £40m bid for Bale from Arsenal, a direct rival for a CL place, a joke bid? I know Levy would piss himself laughing.
Again, accepting a bid is different to considering it a joke. £40m is a reasonable starting bid for a player that would probably cost £55m or £60m if Madrid were not involved. It would not be a joke bid.
Now tell me again how I'm missing your point or avoiding an answer. -

Registered 6 years agoIf the rumours are true, then we have had Paulinho, Soldado, Capoue, Chadli, Wilian and Coentrao in for roughly what we are getting for Bale.
Thats some pretty impressive business if true. Big if though. -

£30m+ on Willian, and around £30m on Lamela too if reports are to be believed, so I very much doubt Bale will be staying.

Looks like it, but more than that - it will be quite a battle for the top 4 slots.

I imagine Spurs really fancy their chances for top slot; I don't see why they can't be challenging (at least) for the title, 4th spot should not be in their thoughts.

Registered 6 years agoTo be fair, even with all these signings, I still don't 4th place is a given.
We could challenge the top two, but we could just as easily finish 5th or 6th. Either way I'm sure it will still be close between Spurs Arsenal and Liverpool. -

Registered 11 years agoWow. Considerable ambition being shown by Spurs in this window. If they do get Willian and Lamela I'll doff my cap to them. Excellent business that leaves them with a stronger squad than last season even if Bale leaves. -
Let's just see what players we have in two weeks.
And then what happens in the 30 odd games that follow. -

Exactly what I was just thinking. It's one thing to be excited about the players coming in, it's another thing entirely to win stuff!

Ha ha. -
You also have to build a team with those players but yeah I think Spurs are title contenders. -

Registered 11 years agoI would be happy with an improvement over last season which I think is looking promising. A few seasons ago, I was bored with challenging for the top 4 every year (used to be a given) I would give anything to be back there now.

So, given that Spurs are now seen as a bigger club than LFC, what's the answer? Sell Suarez and rebuild?
