It's tricky, one can imagine appeals dragging on for a year quite easily. You could introduce a level of added jeopardy if an appeal fails, eg. extra points deduction, longer transfer ban.
I suppose the problem is if they start handing out actual punishments such as banning clubs for breaching FFP what happens to clubs when they inevitably appeal against a decision? Do they still go into the competition while the appeal is going on, do the places go to other clubs in the countries respective leagues? I'm all for the FFP but only if it's actually enforceable and the next few months we will be seeing if they actually have the balls to throw popular clubs out for breaching the rules. -

Registered 16 years agoIt's bollocks tho, isn't it? They were warned about this, given plenty of notice. An appeal shouldn't even be an option. Even Chelsea sorted themselves out. PSG and City just don't care cos the penalty at most will be a fine, and they piss money. It means absolutely nothing. -
Seems that it's got less to do with financial fair play and more to do with uefa being fine with spending billions on a team so long as they get their slice. -

Platini has already said it won't be expulsion from. European competitions. Fining clubs with limitless resources seems pointless and counter productive to those that have overspent but are trying to rein it in.

Registered 6 years agoI reckon Lallana definitely has what it takes to succeed at a top 4 club. I'd love to see him at Spurs, but if he is going to leave Southampton he'll probably want to take a bigger step up than that.
Seems like a good time for him to leave as he is what, 24, 25? Plus his stock has never been higher so Southampton can get maximum dollar for him. -

Moyes would be an extremely shrewd move for Newcastle, although like us they're a club that get a bit hung up on "playing football the right way". -

I always like to see Newcastle do well, at least I did before they shat over Sir Bobby.
On the plus side 3 more points for us.

You'd be in much worse state with Malky or Laudrup in charge.

They've already shown that they'll back down on transfer embargoes. Points deduction would be interesting, but I think the only people that would benefit would be the lawyers...

I just don't really think Newcastle are going to do much better than Pardew tbh. He's a good manager. He's achieved pretty impressive things with Newcastle. He may have plateaued, but is that him or the club in its current state? -

I've heard that the current plan is to force any team that breaks FFP to have Tim Sherwood as their manager for a season

Are you having a Wenger-in or a Wenger-out week based on this event? -

I took the piss out of lilette when he said 'I cant see us winning another game this season' the game you got humped after you sold cabaye.
I've always supported Pardew but it's getting really difficult to defend him the way we're playing at the minute. We're currently the worst team in the league by some distance imo, and I really do fear for us next season.
I sincerely retract my previous hijinks. You have my sympathy.
It still astonishes me that you were that much of a one man team. I mean, seriously, going from challenging for a europa league spot to relegation material after selling *one* player. -
It's the delayed effect of selling Kevin Nolan, as I predicted correctly at the time.
