The football is definitely better now, as hard as that can be to believe some days.

That's the exact moment everything changed, the 5-3.

He did an amicable job of steadying things after Moyes, but the football was absolutely dreadful the vast majority of the time. Nonetheless, a strangely endearing character and I'm glad he got a trophy.

Yesterday's result just would not have happened under Moyes or LVG though. We'd have meekly let the game pass us by at 2-0 down, there was an air of inevitability as soon as we went behind under those two. Genuinely feel as though we've always got a chance under Jose for the first time since Fergie retired and that is the difference.

Got a chance of what though? The league in the next couple of seasons? Not sure to be honest. Things do tend to change quickly in the PL and you can go from also-rans to contenders quite rapidly (and vice versa) so you never know

They only had belief yesterday because it was Crystal Palace. Put them 2-0 down against a Spurs or Liverpool away from home and they'd just accept the defeat and keep it at a 2-0 scoreline

Don't get me wrong I like Mourinho, he's doing an ok job and I like his personality, I just don't expect us to be lifting any PL trophies any time soon

A chance of getting a result in every game, of turning a game around after going behind. It isn't just Palace, we did it against Chelsea last week.

Again, we're second. To a team on a freak of a season that will quite probably break the points record when it's all said and done. The way people go on you'd think we were Arsenal or something.

It would be quite easy to just phone in the rest of the league campaign and focus on our other pursuits, but here we are, turning 2 goal deficits around and it still leads to negativity. People are just dying for a story when there isn't really one to be had at this moment in time.

You were Arsenal. Just last year! (see retro's other point about things changing quickly...)

We might actually finish ahead of Arsenal this season for the first time since Fergie left.

Things have changed, significantly for the better compared to last season. But because we're not up there with City on 172 points we are for some reason talked about as if we're in crisis. It's mad.

It's not just that though is it? When non-United fans watch your games we see a team that is far less entertaining then the teams around you.

Maybe that doesn't bother you but that's why people tend to comment.

I don't think it's ever been referred to as a crisis and more to do with the style of play.

You spent an absolute fortune in the summer to produce the most boring route one football in the league. You also have a manager that seems obsessed with playing players out of position and taking away any kind of creativity they had before. Why spend all that money on Pogba to do a Scott Brown role in the midfield.

Pogba has been put in his preferred position recently and has been shite.

I'm surprised we aren't playing 10 at the back to try and cover the liability that is Lindelof and Young next to each other. I really miss Bailly at the back, he is raw but so much better than the others. Shaw must be doing something really badly in training not to be out first choice left back.

I'll take a boring style of play that can find 3 goals to completely turn a game around any day. Nothing entertaining about that at all.

Yeah, a 91st minute winner is definitely worth 80 minutes of shite

I wish we could play the sort of swashbuckling football that allows you to do a lap of honour at the Hawthorns at the end of a game, but I suppose I'll just have to swallow drab affairs like last night instead.

It's definitely not "route one" football that's for sure. For me it's too intricate at times. We seems to camp on the edge of the opposition box and try real eye of the needle passes through the middle. A lot of times teams are breaking on us because it doesn't come off and we have so many players forward there's no protection for the donkeys at the back

Sometimes in the PL you benefit from playing much quicker, one or two no touch passes in the transition and you can rip sides apart. We slow it down too often and allow teams to re-group meaning it's much harder to score

Yeah it does my head in when we do that. We also lack someone to smash in a 25 yard screamer when the other team is camping the box. Spurs have loads of players that can do it and it wins you a good few points over the course of a season.

Yeah, thankfully(?) we just changed the manager a few times so no one would notice and the negative narrative would be reset. The few trophies helped too I guess.

Could well be a hack and the link take you no where in a few hours but Mahrez has posted a retirement (after consultation with doctors) message on his verified Facebook page.

It’s a bit disingenuous to keep suggesting the only thing stopping you winning the league is a special City side. You’re almost closer to Burnley than you are to City in terms of points, and your position in second is highly precarious. You could easily finish below Spurs and Liverpool and a couple of bad results will put you out the top four again.

Bit of paraphrasing going on there I think, he said we were second to a brilliant city side and not in crisis. Not we would win the league if it wasn't for them.

Who has said united are in crisis? That is a greater exageration of what has been said than to interpret united would be winning if not for city...

United are doing great results wise. But united fans are kidding themselves if they think they haven't been pretty fortunate to not lose more or draw more games this season.

The one credit for united is De Gea. Without him united would be down languishing with Arsenal.
