Probably because they expect him to breakdown again. It's a bit of a gamble and we've been burned by that more than once.

House of Fraser shoppers are obviously a big untapped tracksuit market.

    Wanting him out is bonkers.

But still, not signing a single player seems mad. First club to ever do it.
It clearly wasn't the strategy to sign nobody (we tried extremely hard to sign Grealish and do the Toby/Martial deal), but keeping all our players was the priority which severely limited our options to buy. And in the end it was deemed better to sign nobody than panic buy again on the last day, which I appreciate as we're still lumped with Sissoko and Llorente who we can't shift.

Would we have been better off letting Erksen go for £140m or Kane for £200m and buying a load of new players? Perhaps. My view is it's always preferable to keep your best players if you can.
Agreed . Grealish would have been a good addition but he would have rarely started yet and I don't think he is as good as Winks. You can buy players for the sake of it or you can brink through youth players and actually give them a chance. See Harry Kane

Zouma's loan deal to Everton finally confirmed. Quite a deadline day trolley dash.

I wonder how much that was emboldened by the promise of Uzbek ill-gotten gains?

I actually think Grealish would have played a lot. There was talk we'd agreed to let Dembele go if Grealish came.

But in any case, I think there's enough to be excited about without new signings. We had bad luck with injuries last season, so having Winks, Lamela, Rose and Wanyama back will give us depth, and I expect Moura to have a much bigger impact this season. Maybe even Llorente now that he's had a pre-season. And yeah, there's some exciting youth talent to come through as well.

We all would have wanted signings and I get the frustration. But keeping every single player and supplementing with talented world-cup winning youth also works for me.

This is still a decent squad of players despite all the mauning.

Gotta make top 4 with this minimum.

That looked very iffy to me. That was travelling and I can't say I agree with them that he had time to get his hand out of the way.

There goes Josť's plan to make an example of Luke Shaw at half-time with the score at 0-0.

@HisDudness no, clubs voted against it earlier this year.
