Very disappointed in him tbh. Put in a transfer request and if refused, deal with it.
You can't really blame him. Being made Captain at arsenal is generally a prelude to a move.
He was at least Captain for a few years. Usually it's just one.

I don't have a problem with him wanting to leave, but only if someone pony's up the cash. Even if it's £7m or whatever. Don't think we should let him leave for free though

Must be serious if they've published a statement on the website – though it's so half-arsed: https://www.arsenal.com/news/club-statement-laurent-koscielny

Hopefully he gets a fine, then Emery kisses him on the cheek and a pat on the arse and he's off.

Agree, but da fuq are we gonna do with £7m. Can't get a centreback for that.

Gives us a massive hole for next year where we already needed to strengthen.

I'm starting to think we should just raid league 1 for some big mothafucka types.

Apparently we're going to announce Bruce today. Over 5 million in compensation to Sheff Wed.

LOL. He sounds foreign innit. And that Chris Hughton had a brown face.
Hughton was an Irish international and Souness is Scottish
Are you saying those count as foreign? Irish technically I suppose but not really, and certainly not those from that particular era of Ireland being made up of English players.

That is bad. 5 million for Bruce?! I'm so glad we got rid when we did as it was getting depressing watching his shite football.

Can I put it out there that Roeder is massively under appreciated by NUFC and the fans

How many men have been player, captain and manager of Newcastle United?

Or returned to management after having a brain tumour to drag a club from relegation battle to European qualification?

Or (sort of) won a (totally legitimate) trophy?

The club was a right state when Souness left with half what had been a Champions League squad gone, loaned or in decline and Glenn temporarily held back the rot. Now most people barely remember he even had the job.

I'm a bit confused by this whole Koscielnty situation tbh. He wants to leave, fair enough - but why does it have to be on a free? Can't we agree a price with whichever French club wants to get him?

Probably because we want money and he's injury prone so not worth that amount.

Send him to St Etienne and get Saliba in early…

/knows nothing about Saliba, nor spending €30M on a defender who won't be part of the squad for another year

    Absolutely this.

He also had a pretty ridiculous injury crisis to deal with and managed to get some solid performances out of a few of the academy lads. I don't think he was the best tactically at times but the players put a shift in and all the off the field nonsense when Souness was in charge pretty much disappeared. He really should be thought of in the same way Chris Hughton is. He was a really solid manager who stabilised the club and conducted himself with dignity.

But Arsenal took up the option in good faith – as they did at the end of June with another of their veteran defenders, Nacho Monreal – and, to them, it is a little late for Koscielny to be arguing against its legitimacy. They are furious at Koscielny’s behaviour and have taken the unusual step of releasing a statement to condemn him.
Seems a bit cuntish of Koscielny rather than the usual Arsenal ballsed it up again.

Yeah, just read that. Surely he will have known the option would be taken up, and if they didn't tell him, they should have. But it wouldn't change the fact that the club are in the right. Might seem harsh after 9 good years not to let him go, but it's about time the club protected their interests first.

However, the 33-year-old returned from his summer break and asked to be released from his contract a year before it expires, which Arsenal refused.
He could buy his way out, I suppose. I don't see why the club would want to lose out on residual value.

All I can think is that Koscielny must be spectacularly thick to pick this summer to throw his toys out the pram, what an absolute roaster.

Also £5m for Steve Bruce, inevitable relegation and terrible, terrible football? Jesus.

I wouldn't get too worked up at the compo package, I've heard it's coming in the form of credit loaded onto a GAME Elite card.

Sheffield Wednesday need to pick the 3 pre-owned games they will be able to buy off it carefully.

I'm just in absolute bewilderment that somewhere right now, someone is signing a piece of paper, probably weighted with a Sports Direct mug, that will see five million pounds change hands for the services of Steve Bruce.

    Read that again.

    Now read it again.

    I just can't even...

He tried to leave last year but got injured. He's old and wants his last big payday. I dont think the timing is surprising at all, in fact i called it a few months ago but @Dougs pooh pooed me

Accrington Stanley 2-0 up at half time against a decent Marseille side.
