David Squires has outdone himself in the Guardian today.

After his classic Emo Mourinho, he brings us Ole Gunnar Nostaljaer (wearing a Sunny Delight t-shirt).

Ooorrrrrrr teams figured out the plan of you guys giving the ball away to counter, and now just give you the possession so they can counter you, and Ole hasn't figured out how to adapt to the fact the rest of the league has adapted to him?

Man Utd pay Rashford, Martial, Maguire and Mata around £8000000 a year more than Liverpool pay Salah, Van Dijk, Firmino and Mané

Reading about the disparity in pay (shock!) between first-teasers and academy players in this article, I wanted to ask: why do we always quote footballer salaries by the week, and not £18M per annum. Does it hark back to getting your little brown envelope with your 5 bob and tuppence back in 'the day'?

Huh. Well, that's Ozil right now.

Arsenal have always paid a good wage, it’s how they always got players cheap and why them loosing out on cl money is a massive problem for them. Pretty sure us, spurs and arsenal are still paying abebeyor ;)

How does paying higher wages help you get players cheap?

It doesn't. We went through a spell of paying young prospects more than market value in order to recruit and retain when we were skint, along with Wenger's socialist wage structure idea. Which sounded fine in theory but meant we paid a lot for average players if they didn't develop. Bendtner on £60k a week at the time etc. It did.mean we were able.to (slightly dubiously) bring in players like Cesc, Bellerin and errrm, Denilson.

Is it not the case that get players cheap, I. E. For free at end of contracts means you will have to beat a lot of interest and therefore the result is expensive contracts due to players being cheap. Not the other way round.

De Gea being injured isn't the end of the world. Romero is fucking awesome and would walk into the vast majority of PL first 11's. He's wasted as a second keeper.

Well yeah that's what I thought. De Gea being injured is bit of a mute point. Romero will do as good a job of getting in the way of some wayward shots.
