I mean, for that meme to work you have to know the work of the Happy Mondays, to pretend Son is dirty and indeed 30 years old

Thereís no way it will be considered a frivolous appeal and extend it.

The justification that was immediately sent out by the FA would suggest theyíve already made up their minds, but they could as PES says just say it was horrific circumstances which created confusion and an error in judgement.

All straight reds are supposed to go to VAR, but they didnít with that, so whatever happens theyíve not followed protocol. Plus again, they literally made up a rule that doesnít exist. It would kind of be a madness to not rescind to be honest.

I assume Watford have/are going to appeal Dawsons 'the games gone mad' yellow?

Yeah, I get that but surely they can do *something*? Imagine if they missed out on some fair play cash because of that?

Gomes's surgery went extremely well. Expected to make a full recovery.

Hopefully he'll be the same player again. Eduardo sadly never was.

Similar players to have suffered those kind of injuries include Arsenal duo Aaron Ramsey and Eduardo.

Ramsey was sidelined for nine months, after his tibia and fibula was shattered in 2010, before needing time in the Championship to get back to his best.

As for Eduardo, the Brazilian-born Croat also had an ankle dislocation in 2008, returning to action almost a year later.

What happened? I must have been at the game and don't remember anything odd.

Oh hang on, I remember now - it seemed a really good tackle from the stands but I assumed he had studs up or something.

Son wins his appeal. Good to see.
  • Deleted user 5 November 2019 17:22:42
I think that's fair. It was a professional foul but he didn't mean to snap him. A bit of a tragic accident really.

Hopefully he recovers in good time.

Nah, it was pretty textbook. Ive seen it described on twitter as 'something I would show kids to teach them how to tackle'

It wasnít a professional foul. There was no obvious goal scoring opportunity prevented.

Independent regulatory commission. Hence being correct.

Xhaka got sent off for similar against Swansea a few year ago, and appeal dismissed. Similarly ludicrous decision

Did Xhaka get a yellow card that got upgraded a couple of minutes later based on the severity of the injury?

Is that the reason they gave?! (Didn't see the game) That's even more laughable. Mike Dean is a joke.

Either way, shows the Xhaka decision was still wrong.

Yeah. It was Martin Atkinson but still agreed on Mike Dean.

I think in truth itís harsh to hang Atkinson out to dry as it was very unusual circumstances. And any complains feel churlish given what happened to Gomes. But still, the combination of a new rule being made up for a red card, VAR not being used in the exact circumstances itís supposed to be used in, and 12 minutes being added for a 6 minute stoppage mean we lost two crucial points. Itís kinda bullshit.

Wasn't the rest of time down to how long they spent deciding Alli's handball wasn't handball?

Glad it got overturned as it was obviously the wrong decision. Also think it's harsh blaming Atkinson as there's obviously a lot of emotion in a moment like that. Not using VAR was the problem. Although, with how many times it's been wrong so far, I'm sure it would have still been a red.
