On a completely different note, one of the football tropes I find most annoying is the need for managers/staff who Ďunderstand the clubí.

This is a completely romanticised notion that is pretty much meaningless. Notice how itís only ever used in the context of fans wanting managers that play attacking football. Thatís all it really means.
    Yup.

My favourite is the whole "the West Ham way" thing.

If I hear 'Manchester United DNA' one more time I think I'll vomit up my liver.

It's clearly missing a chromosome if that's what we're calling the shit we put out every week.

It comes from a regressive mentality. When youíre struggling to move forward the tendency is to look back to when things were working and try to replicate them somehow. But it doesnít recognise wider macro change, and itís a dangerous way to see things in business, life and football.
One suspects Steve Bruce understand what Newcastle United is now a lot more than most of our fans

It's almost as if everyone in football constantly talks a load of old shit because it's a lowest common denominator sport.

I wonder if Owen spaffs his appearance fee up the wall in a bookies before he even gets home from flapping his drivel spouting cakehole on these amazon matches

Seems that way - there's an 'Add to watchlist' option.

Though watching a 90 min game on delay is something I hate - pausing one for a couple of minutes is bad enough, I always fast-forward goal kicks and free kicks to try to catch up, missed a few goals that way :/

I'm not watching, but plenty of moaning on Twitter that the game is about 4 mins adrift.

Have they set one of the language options so that it's got no commentary. I love watching games without it when I can.

Video quality is good. Having recently watched some stuff on Sky streaming and seen the shoddy 720 output this is much better. It's football, it's included in my Prime subscription and it's easy to dip in and out. No complaints.

As near as I can tell, it's not really further out, time wise, than most transmissions/ streams. How about just not going on twitter and everything while watching a game?

Ok thanks. I suspected as much, but thought maybe Amazon would go all out and buy a global license.

The day is coming when a streaming service, maybe even the league itself, just broadcasts everything for a flat fee.

If I was Sky or BT, I'd be very nervous right now.

These days itís pretty easy to create your own platform. I really wouldnít be surprised if the PL just did it themselves.

PLTV - £30 a month. Would you be in? All games and highlights live and on-demand. However no other leagues or content outside of PL.

It's what the PGA have done. Utilised YouTube to exponentially broaden their viewer base, which is by all measures a great thing to do because it really got up the entitled noses of all the boomers who don't understand the whole sporting world isn't available to them via Sky

I assume the clubs would want to do their own thing like iFollow.

EDIT: in terms of charging model

Half the audience wouldn't understand how to get the app on their TV

Sky don't have anything to worry about and doing this kind of thing is not easy, it's just that kalel makes shit up and is full of crap.

They wouldnít be allowed to show Saturday 3:00pm games but they could do all the other games exclusive plus exclusivity on the highlights. I reckon £30 a month would probably cover it. Maybe less. Iíve been amazed at the Disney+ prices.

Given that I suggested it before Kal, perhaps direct the bullshit comments at me?
