I bet behind the scenes agents are rubbing their hands making sure all their clients are looked after. My piss is boiling over this.

I think players should contribute more but then why should club owners get off lightly?

Just read that premier league owners are worth a combined 8 billion, that probably annoys me more.

To be fair, Rashford probably has significantly more money the majority of MP's.

Whislt individual contributions are fine it still doesn't help a huge number of lower league clubs who fighting for their survival during this.

It should be clubs taking the lead, they are the employers and can set the scene.

If players then get up in arms about it, different story.

It boils down to worst paid employees are first to get shafted, which just isn't OK.

If Juventus can agree to freeze their pay for four months then why can't other clubs do the same? Its laughable that Neville and Lineker have blasted the comments yesterday saying oh it takes longer to sort out all this.. if Juventus can do it, why can't everyone else? Load of bollocks all of this. I've lost a huge respect for football.
Whilst I partly agree, I do think you're taking the bait here a little.

The footballers should take a hit, but the clubs should too, and the whole argument is an attempt to focus on the income of working class lads as opposed to the hoarded wealth of the elite.

Rashford has funded loads of projects, and is certainly putting his hand in his pocket more than a Hancock, Green, or Rees-Mogg.
How am I taking the bait? Didn't Germany do this already? Why is it taking so long for PL to get this through?

I'm sure there are plenty of celebs/footballers who do charity work. But they also sometimes get paid for said charity work.. didn't they expose Harry Redknapp on TV a few weeks back?

He’s cracked it. The WHOLE thing is about this. No nuance or complexity multiple factors at play or anything.

I think you'd be surprised. To a lot of these cunts, being an MP is basically a part time job.

Considering how many clubs run at a loss and are built in debt or borderline money laundering I wonder how many will go under because of this?

There are plenty of clubs at all levels who could barely get by as it was.

They’re all shitting themselves, including most of the bigger clubs.

I wonder if FFP will be suspended as it could absolutely fuck everyone left standing.

As I said on the previous page, from the championship down, I wouldnt really be confident in any club coming back from this. If you thought League One was a circus this year, wait until the restart, whenever that is.

Wouldnt be surprised if they have to consolidate L1 and L2 or something, just to get a full calendar of games.

Oh look, Premier League players are donating at least £20m to help with Coronavirus. Almost like half the people here took the journalists bait and started expecting footballers to fix things instead of the government.

Also, great to see an agreement to send money down through the footballing pyramid. Will save lots of clubs from collapse.

"Premier League clubs will ask players to take a 30% pay cut"

It's not about asking. It's about doing.

And my view on all this is that PL players should be taking a pay cut to help their club (esp those who have had to furlough staff, reducing impact on tax payer) and those below, nothing to do with the NHS etc.

    Yup same.

Also with a bit of 'if you do that, then clubs shouldn't have to furlough staff, taking money out of a government fund that really wasn't set up for that purpose in the first place'.

@reddevil93 It's not really about donating money but more about the complete lack of action when clubs started shedding staff. I blame the PFA more than anything as they've looked completly gutless in this whole episode.
