The official Spurs journo Alistair Gold has said a Bale loan is genuinely on the cards (having dismissed all previous links in the past).
Reports coming out that Segio Reguilion is very close too. Not sure on the bale stuff personally, but there does seem to be a lot of noise, more so than usual.

Bale is such a huge gamble now. Its hard to tell how much he cares about football after the last few years. Real will want a chunk of those insane wages covering as well, im just not sure if its worth the risk. We have been linked with him as well the last few days as well.

I would like him to get his move and prove me wrong btw as Real have treated him appallingly.

Youíre right of course, but Iíd still love to see him in a spurs shirt again. Canít see it happening though.

ĎSuch a huge gambleí seems a little bit of an overstatement.

Iíd add itís probably less of a gamble for Spurs than anyone else.

Given his age, injury issues and lack of playing time iíd say itís still a gamble. Itís one Iíd be happy for us to take though. Would surely give the whole club a boost.

Its a pretty big gamble if you are having to cover a chunk of his wages. He hasn't even played half a season for the last 3 years so how good is he nowadays?

Iíd be gutted if itís a one year loan but thereís still no fans in the stands. Be great to see 60000 chanting his name like the old days

On one hand, it's hard to feel bad for him because he's a multi millionaire for doing fuck all.

But at the same time, he's scored in Champs League finals and still gets treated like utter shit by the fans, the club and the press. Then when he finally gets a chance to leave they just pull the rug from under him. I'd be amazed if he even cares about club football anymore and I wouldn't blame him if he doesn't.

Itís weird that Bale feels like a failure when heís won the biggest trophies available at a genuine super club, but he really does somehow.

Itís not like he totally Michael Oweníd his time there

Ryan Fraser becomes another Bruce signing you score in his Newcastle debut. Things are coming up Stevie.

I agree Bale is somewhat of a gamble but one that feels relatively low risk for Spurs. I very much doubt the likes of United and Spurs would be looking to sign him without some insight into his current ability. A loan means no fee and wages will be affordable in light of that. And no long term commitment.

Heís a club legend. A fan favourite. Not to mention world class. And weíre in massive need of a boost.

If itís affordable itís bordering on no brainier territory for me.

Its also that he has only managed to start more than 25 league games once since moving to Real. He will be right among the top earners in the team and there is a realistic possibility of him being available for half the season. Having had our fair share of overpaid and unmotivated players in recent times it raises a bit of a red flag for me.

Still we will see soon enough I guess.

So if itís such a massive gamble, what actually is the risk? He hardly plays for a season and itís £10m or so down the drain, and he goes back to Madrid. Thatís literally the worst case scenario.

Because bringing in aging players on high wages can piss off your existing players. Spending wages on someone with a pretty bad injury record is also quite a big risk.

It can also go the other way and he will turn around years of injury troubles to feature heavily and be a big success.

Thats why its a gamble in my view.

I really doubt anyone will be pissed off at us bringing him in. If anything itís the sort of signing the players are desperate for us to make.

Weíre not disagreeing on it being a gamble. I just donít see it as a particularly big one.

I also think if you find yourself being more risk averse than Daniel Levy, well...

I think its probably as we have been burnt quite a bit recently that I am a bit more cautious about it than you. Also his wanting to move to China last year makes me question his motivation towards playing club football a bit.

I will say his goal scoring record is incredible across his career (with the understandable exception of last year).

Like I said before though, whatever happens I hope it works out for him as Real have been really shitty to him.

Why is Bale a Spurs legend?

Would be exciting to have him back in the PL. Hate to see such a talented player waste his talent on the bench.

I'd agree with both of you...it's a gamble as you have no idea if he can still do it or will last. But of all the clubs, it's probably less of a gamble for Spurs as he knows the club and should settle quickly. Be interesting if it comes off...

If I were a Man U fan and had gone from Sancho to Bale I think Iíd be disappointed. But we were being linked with Troy Deeney yesterday.

Bale will fucking love playing for Spurs. If he's past it, he's past it but there's no way he won't be going at it 100%.

@Youthist He's earned a shit load of money but not many players get treated particularly well by Real Madrid, the fans and Marca. It wasn't long ago that they were shitting on Ronaldo. A player that carried that team for donkeys years.

I think it's an absolute no brainer signing Bale. He's an amazing player still. He's been frozen out by Zidane which has made him stop caring. Not the other way around. He'll care again about playing for Spurs. Would be amazing for the league to have him back.
