I can't say I've watched him much in recent years so couldn't speak of where his game is at but this idea he's a money grabbing layabout only interested in playing golf is ludicrous.

I probably wouldn't take him at Utd purely because we've done our share of taking on people the wrong side of 30 over recent years and it not working out but it's a low risk deal and if it works out, they've got a truly special player who can make a difference.

Liverpool on the verge of signing Thiago Alcantara then after all?

Just give them the title again already.

Well we certainly have no chance of catching them having added 1 player. I'm sure we'll sign at least one more i just don't know who.

We're woefully short at lb because Shaw will get injured again.

He can't hold a flame to Jeff Hendrick.

Quite clearly no one else in here watches Wales games.
I think you know the answer to this one already. Is Robson-Kanu still one of the best wingers in world football?

It doesn't matter who your wingers are when you have the hottest striker on the planet, Ben Woodburn

Itís called wages. £200k a week for two years = £20m. Thatís also the extent of his contract so effectively a free transfer.

Would be nice to see Bale back at a club that actually gives a fuck about him.

Going to be some good North London derbies if this comes off.

Is it two years then? I thought it was 1.

Looks like Regulion is done too. That's actually some really good business from us this window if the Bale deal happens.

Nobody actually knows yet but it sounds like we pay 40% of his salary for the remainder of his contract with no returns. Real obviously donít want him back in a year if heís injured/shit.

So Bale will basically be getting a million quid for every game he'll probably end up playing.

Yes, in a shocking development, footballers get paid lots of money.

Well, a million quid a game is a bit steep. He's not Messi.

It obviously wonít be a million quid a game, Iíd say heís quite likely to play rather a lot, but still, it is increasingly the norm.

Everyone seemed to think it was a coup a week ago when Aubameyang netted almost twice that salary.

Don't really see how anyone can see it as a negative. It's about as noncommittal and risk free as a football deal goes for that calibre of player.

Seems like a great deal. Mozza loves a big star signing doesn't he!

If he can stay fit he'll be massive for spurs. As someone said, that front line now looks pretty terrifying.

Yup, and super experienced now too. He'll complete them (well him and a little bit more in terms of squad depth, arguably).

Kane, Son and Bale is a pretty impressive front 3. Not quite sure where Dele fits in (assuming we go to a 3-4-3), but I guess it gives us options of different formations.

I won't fully believe it until it's confirmed on the LFC website, but he really could make a big difference to us.

Our midfield is incredibly hard working, but you could argue that the creativity of the team really comes from our full backs - if they're nullified, we struggle to break teams down. Thiago would give us a whole new dimension.

bale seems like a marquee signing to keep the fans happy as spurs won't be winning anything in the next two seasons

I assume any alli sale will include a buyback clause, otherwise it's quite a shortsighted piece of business overall

    RIP bale's champions league career

Found it amusing that Fergie really wanted Dele under Jose. And thinking about it.. Fergie probably would have kicked him up the arse to sort his shit out, but not so much with Jose.

I don't know if it's just cause I'm hyped for United to be back this weekend and the 7/8 months straight of football to kick off, but this entire weekend of PL fixtures look interesting to me.

Everton v West Brom , with Ancelloti's new look side
Leeds v Fulham , Bielsa's first match as the favorite in the PL
United v Palace, first look at United
Arsenal v West Ham, exciting new young side after getting the boost of their striker staying vs the disaster that is West Ham

Southampton v Spurs, can Spurs bounce back after poor start
Newcastle v Brighton, can Bruce's boys keep rolling on
Chelsea v Liverpool, not much needed to be said
Leicester v Burnley, okay maybe I'm stretching a bit here but Leicester are generally good to watch and there's talk of turmoil at Burnley right now

Villa v Sheffield Utd, can Villa's new boys settle in and get a result again a team they would love to overtake this year
Wolves v Man City, this has served up some great games in the last few years and should be a tough start for Pep's City
