We’ve barely touched the ball in the second half. Actually really disappointed with the performance. |

Registered 11 years agoEven City are turning into sit on a lead merchants this season. Think the early mullerings some of the big teams got, combined with the season being so truncated and things being so tight is making everyone a bit twitchy. -

Registered 14 years agoImpressive that from Fulham, especially considering the weird build up to the game. Lots of points dropped from winning positions for Spurs, especially with 3rd place having been up for grab tonight.
Annoyingly there’s talk Villa’s game this weekend will be postponed outright and they’ll be 3 games behind. -

Don't think he's a sit back for 86 minutes football player so Jose doesn't use him

Good PR move, a week after sending the first team on a £250k trip to Dubai to catch Covid. -

Registered 14 years agoI see Mourinho is blaming the players...saying there's no ambition to get another goal. Nothing to do with his tactics then!?

I’m not sure he is fully fit after his recent injury to be fair. But yes, understandable he doesn’t play against the likes of city, Liverpool etc., but you’d like to think we’d see enough of the ball against the likes of Fulham for him to be effective.

He seems to do this every time. I do find it strange that we sit back so much on 1 goal, but the fact it keeps happening must come down to the manager. It was obvious Fulham were going to score yesterday but he didn’t make any changes to try to alter the flow of the game until after they scored. It’s very strange.

Registered 14 years agoIt's not strange though, this is jose now. I do think it's sort of incredible that he seems to just get caught out all the time with these tactics now though.
Opposition are probably overall stronger than during his best spells as a manager as this seemed to always happen when he managed us too. It feels unlucky sometimes but it's deserved for his approach.

Registered 12 months agoHe doesn't have the defenders to pull it off anymore. Dier and Sanchez aren't exactly top tier.
If he had prime vertonghen and Alderwierald he'd grind at so many cleansheet wins. -

Registered 15 years agoWe still pretty much have the best defensive record in the league. We’re conceding a lot of late set pieces. That’s less about the quality of our defenders and more about how they’re being trained and/or concentration. It feels like a specific issue that you could target and address, although we have not done so, so perhaps not. -

Registered 15 years agoI say a lot. It’s still not actually a lot relatively speaking but tots specifically set pieces where we struggle. Our in play defending is really excellent. -

Registered 12 months agoWhen the team is set up to defend as a unit it helps obviously. Then the individual errors will be exposed at setpieces. -

Registered 8 years agoWe generally defend well, but that’s not the issue. The issue is that we are unable to take the sting out of a game when winning either by scoring a second goal or controlling possession. We seem to sit back deep, concede possession at 1-0. And it’s costing us lots of points. -

Registered 11 years agoIt seems to me he realised there was a genuine crack at the league this year and got a bit more pragmatic.
Again though, City are doing the exact same this season and aren't getting shit for it. Along with the narrative that they have a threadbare squad and totally haven't hoovered up three quarters of the defenders in the northern hemisphere over the last 5 years to cope with that. -

While certainly true of other games, I honestly don’t think that’s a fair assessment of yesterday. We had quite high possession and we’re definitely going for the second goal. We just didn’t get it.
