Isn't the owner of Roma a bit of a nutter? So expect fireworks there.

Which is basically a superbob-esque 'Could go either way'.

Specialist in failure... how ironic for him to have used that phrase!

Not that I'm trying to defend Mourinho, but to be fair, Spurs is the only club he didn't win a trophy with.

Yes but he was shit at united and did his best to throw the europa league win.

He's done. Awful manager now and has been for some time.

I'm no Jose fan but how did he try and throw the EL win?

Iirc he gave up chasing top4 to focus solely on that.

Yeah he didn't throw it at all. The hatred some united fans have for him is really quite weird.

Yeah he was getting slaughtered for chucking the league for the Europa, not the other way around.

He's a cunt but we were/are a cunt of a club. So it's kind of fitting we got a taste of our own medicine there.

I donít hate him, I just donít think his methods are particularly effective. Tactics aside, his man management is pretty appalling. I guess it works sometimes like with shaw / Ndombele but I think they turned it around in spite of him rather than because of him.

I seem to remember in his original spell at Chelsea he used to protect his players and take the criticism himself and the players seemed to love him. Not sure what changed. Or maybe Iím just remembering wrong.

He doesn't get credit for Shaw, he utterly broke him.

And to your last point, I think it was Real and Casillas that changed that part of him. After that he was happy to throw everyone under the bus to protect himself.

Players are different these days. For better or worse you've got to coddle most of them whereas when he was in his pomp there were less of those type of players around. Look at that Chelsea squad from 15 years ago. You get nothing like that these days.

His man management is excellent if a player already has that run through brick walls attitude (Kane, Son being some recent examples) but trying to actually bring it out of someone he's abysmal and he basically has one default setting; implode. and as he no longer has the power to shitcan a player to the reserves and eventually out of the club without any comeuppance these days he'll eventually throw enough tantrums to completely destroy squad morale.

Fair enough, wasnít that close to it I just know he eventually turned it around. Probably similar with dele in that respect.

Shaw got better in spite of him, and everyone to be fair. It's good to see a player turn their career trajectory around for the better.

Think Ole deserves a lot of credit with Shaw. He's taken the arm around the shoulder approach while bringing in competition to get the best out of him.

Certainly don't think he tried to throw the Europa League lol. I'd go as far to say the complete opposite tbh. We parked the bus in nearly every game of it.

I think the point might have been the very nearly chucking it away in the semi final right at the end. But yeah, we were all in on that competition so it was a success no matter the way we got there.

If he does go then fuck me.. Martinez really shouldn't have left. I honestly thought last season Martinez really lifted the team. Since Leno came back I feel he's not commanded the back line at all. Of course he's still a great shot stopper..

I mentioned this the other week and still maintain it; I think a lot of our issues come down to him.

He can't play out from the back. He puts us under pressure every time he has the ball in his hands or at his feet. We can't play the way we want to play because by the time he's made his mind up about where to play the ball, that player is either under pressure, or he's played it to an opponent already.

He's a good to great shot stopper. But he's bloody terrible at crosses and even worse at playing out from the back.

@kentmonkey Martinez is excellent at catching crosses especially where other goalies would punch. He's great on the ball and is an excellent shot stopper. My only criticism of him is his kicking. Ederson is amazing at it and Martinez will usually kick it out of play if it a kick of more than 10 yards.

Thanks to the Arsenal for selling him to us.

Yeah, that was a turn up.

As for Martinez Vs Leno, there was an offer for one and not the other. Outcome may have been different had we had 2 offers, but we didn't...

I donít think Martinez would have stayed anyway. He only played because Leno was injured, played a blinder and still would have been no 2 the following season.

United now playing in the premier league on sunday (Villa), tuesday (Leicester) and thursday (Liverpool). Suppose it's fair enough punishment but tough on the players.
