Footballers and their money
Interesting read Dougs, a nice insider view on the trappings of fame and fortune. Shame that some players do get targeted when they go back home.
Shouldn't really laugh at that money burning thing that he talks about, but I did find this comment amusing:
top stuff! there's a similar story to the £50 one attributed to a young ryan giggs. some lad saying 'i can do what you do', he burns a £50 saying, 'can you do this?'

Would be funny if Villa win thanks to a penalty from a Pires dive.
We can play without Fabregas, no doubt - and have done many times in the past, so I don't agree with Kalel at all. But he's still our most important player and naturally we miss him when he's not there
I wasn't saying that you can't play without Fabregas, just that when you do play with him, the quality of your performance depends on the quality of his performace.
It's the talisman affect. Same thing happens with Gerrard at Liverpool (except they are shit without him). -

Registered 18 years agoAh I get you. Certainly if he plays well, we play well. But there have been quite a few games where we've played well and Fabregas either hasn't played or has been below par. Sometimes to the point where we're not as worried about next season... -
First post need updating, the papers need to know which shirt you wear.

Indeed, when he's shit, Liverpool are shit. This is my point. -

Well that depends entirely on whether they continue to be lol worthy or not. Gerrard can be a great player but he does love his Hollywood passes when it makes more sense to just pass the ball about ten feet to retain possession. -
Throws out teh citylol and spurslol. -

According to an ITKlol, a midfielder is done and dusted but wouldn't name them. Juninho perhaps? -

WTF. I'm staggered actually. Appreciate he needs time to gain match fitness, but hoped it would be with us, starting with the Carling Cup next week. Maybe it's something we learned with Eduardo - give him time outside of the pressure etc.
Edit: Ah, we have one reserve game between now and Jan 10th. That'll be why then -
Interesting. I'm not sure about the link with Juninho but I'd be more happy to have a short term signing than bringing in a long term, unless it's a defensive midfielder but even then we've got a few youngsters that could come good so I'm not sure if we need yet another long term high contract midfielder. -

Registered 15 years agoBloody hell this weekend is coming round quickly.
Some mega games..
Villa-Arsenal: This can go either way I feel (yeah yeah... obvious) - Arsenal are there for the taking, or they'll finally find some backbone and stuff Villa, impossible to say.
Bolton-Blackpool: Massive game for both clubs on-field, big derby off-field... and that, to me, says draw all over.
Everton-West Brom: West Brom are suffering, Everton improving still, home win.
Fulham-Birmingham: Difficult to call... draw.
Man Utd v Blackburn: Home win all day long, prove me wrong you disgusting fat bung-taking Walrus - I love fat Sam.
Stoke-Man City: Draw.
West Ham-Wigan: Christ... anything is possible
Wolverhampton-Sunderland: Draw
Newcastle v Chelsea: I fancy Newcastle to compound Chelsea's bad run... narrow Toon win
Tottenham v Liverpool: Spurs' good run to come to an end with a share of the points... draw.
I HAVE SPOKEN -
Don't know nothing about Makoun, anybody fill me in? I'm sure there's a youtube video of him looking awesome somewhere. -

Registered 11 years agoDefensive midfielder. 26/27 I believe. From Cameroon. Pretty fast and a good tackler. Is pretty good on PES and FM.
In short: like Essien but not as good -

Like Essien but not as good sounds the ticket to me! I did do a quick youtube search and he seems to have good feet and a bit of vision. I hope the link is solid, I like Nigel mediocre but I've read some stuff that makes it sound like he's getting too big for his boots and making big wage demands.
