| I prefer the heat. I can just sit around in a pair of shorts, have all the windows open and drink water to stay cool. And I love cycling on a clear hot summers day. |

Registered 17 years agoThe cold. But the summer heat is much more extreme in Australia. The cold, not so much. -

Registered 17 years agoI imagine a cold day in Australia being more like a cloudy summer's day here. I know I'm wrong but that's how I like to imagine it.

It gets very chilly in the south, in Melbourne and Tasmania, but it's mostly because of the wind and not the temperature. It almost never gets below zero.

Registered 16 years agoCold in Australia is also bad inside. Central heating ain't so popular as I found out while shivering in bed at night in Adelaide during winter. :/ -

Registered 17 years agoFrom a UK perspective the weather in the southern parts of Oz and in NZ is rather like simply skipping November through February and spreading the rest of the year around. As Genji says, it's the wind that gets you as there's no land between the Antarctic and you. Also, most people who complain about the cold in NZ are actually complaining about being cold when sitting around in their unheated and poorly insulated houses and not when walking round outside.
That's at sea-level, obviously. Some of the higher bits see snow for significant chunks of the year. -

Registered 15 years agoDefinitely heat. I just can't function when it's this cold. And driving in extreme heat is a lot nicer than driving in snow and ice. -

Registered 12 years agoI prefer cold for the most part, but I can't stand being cold when I wake up and having to get out of bed.
I live in South Africa, and it gets extremely hot in the summer. -

Registered 16 years agoI prefer summer, it's not just the temperature in winter but also getting dark so early.

Except getting up in the mornings. Crawling back under the duvet 'for five minutes' is waaay too tempting in a fridge-like bedroom. -

Registered 17 years agoI pefer the summer heat, mainly because I'm quite sensitive to the cold. Temperature has got to be quite high (probably around 27/28 celsius) before I'll start feeling too warm. -
Heat for me.
Never had to abandon my car miles from work/home cos it was too hot outside.
