I really hate the idea of Darkmorgado categorising everybody on the forum by their political compass results. It's just weird. I know you have Aspergers, but come on, there are better, less robotic ways of getting to know people.

Hmmm. I take issue with your assumption that I am attempting to "categorise everybody". If you are not interested in participating, noone is holding a gun against your head, and there is plenty of room for discussion amongst even the most liberal of people that tends to defy individuals being treated as identical.

The thread was started primarily because I have seen, so many times, forumites saying "you're such a liberal" or "you're such a Tory" (and yes, I am guilty of this myself). Additionally, I have seen comments such as "EG is full of liberals" or "EG is full of right-wing scum". The thread was started so that people could actually compare themselves to each other. Think someone is a Tory? The result might surprise you. Or, it might not.
Of course, it will not stop people disagreeing over singular issues. But it might give people a sense of how people's politics lie in a broader sense within our own little geeky community.

With regards to how biased the test is, I will be doing some analysis of my own and will pubish my findings. I do think it is slightly suspect that the test does not actually disclose how it calculates leanings (that is, though, easily found out - if a bit long-winded); along with people being suspicious as to just how many people seem to fall in the same category, I think there is cause there for further investigation. If I find anything iffy in the results (i.e, subjects not starting off on a 0,0 coordinate, or an inherent bias to shift people towards negative readings), then I will attempt to normalise existing findings.

And finally, this is not an attempt to "get to know people". People are not defined by their politics, anymore than they are defined by what game they like. You might disagree with someone's political opinions, but that doesn't mean you can't get on. And really, there is so much more to someone than just their politics.
    So, erm... yeah.

It's a massive waste of time.

No, they think that only authoritarians don't.
    What complete shite.

That's not quite what they say. They say they frequently attack them, and that's not far off. Although I attack them too (as being shit) so it doesn't really work. Well, actually, given that I'd implement an authoritative regime if I was given an ounce of power, it does fit.

Regardless of any tests, there's no excuses for being a fucking Liberal any more.

Hitler & Stalin had purges against modern art, didn't they? Probably presumed from that.

Yeah they did. Pretty sure China and N.Korea engage in that shit as well. In fact, pretty much any dictatorship has controlled the ouput of art during their reign.

Do you tell people to "get real" if they display left-leaning politics?

Do you think you're the one who's telling the truth and everyone else is too scared to agree because they'll be seen as "un-PC"?

Well, in that case, I have no idea what you're on about.

I should've known not to bother when you confused being a liberal and being a Liberal Democrat though.

Maybe he means liberal as in ultra-free-market, right wing liberal?

But then he mentioned 8% public support, which I assumed was a dig at the LDs.

It really wasn't confusion, but never mind.

As it goes, I'm definitely not your Tory/right winger type. In fact, I'm more the happy to see them neck shot type. However, that doesn't mean I have any love of wishy washy middle class wankers.

And I'm not really bothered by what you think, tbh. Who the fuck are you?

Dunno, no idea what you're talking about tbh.

But I was reminded of something from... somewhere else. It was worth a try. :)
