Breathing in as a large deep breath hurts if I stretch my right side and breath can’t really feel anything. Wasn’t even a good kick which has really annoyed me and it’s more the fact I can’t go now for a while until it heals and that it will bring the fear of ‘can I take that kick or will it break again’ Edited by solidsneek at 20:05:59 24-03-2018 |

@The-Bodybuilder
I’m not mugging you off. There was a thread years ago where a Forumite had some super happy fun time with some area champions sister and he was flapping, hence the enquiry. It was very funny.
Dillian Whyte’s on tonight. Should be a great fight, I always rated him and he had AJ giving it bambi legs in their fight. His opponent looks like an absolute unit though. Read his a piece in him in the Times about his Chechen doping shocker. He seems really genuine, liked him offering his hand at the weigh in.
That thread sounds hilarious though. Someone needs to find it. -

This would be the best coincidence ever
Looks like the thread has gone now, but look your friends In the eye and ask them about your sister.

Registered 6 years agoNah. Even if it's a broken rib there's nothing they can do. If the pains too much make an appointment with your doctor to get some stronger pain killers but other than that you're just going to have to see it out. I had a really bad one once that pretty much stopped me sleeping for a couple of weeks. You don't realise how much everything you do includes your ribs in some way until they're injured. Try and get a hold of some strong opiates if it's unbearable. -

Really though? What can they do for a rib injury other than painkillers?

Registered 16 years agoFuck sitting in A&E for a broken rib. Depending on how bad it is there’s the chance of lung infection though, need to keep those deep breaths going -

Registered 6 years agoChances of his rib even being broken if it was just a push front kick are really slim. Just having a bit of a bruise in the wrong place is fucking agony. -

Registered 17 years agoI'd a broken rib once and it hurt like all fuckery with any kind of core movement for about a week. Laid still in bed with pillows supporting me I couldn't feel it though. I could kind of push the broken bit back and forth too, which resulted in a weird game of pain roulette. -

Registered 5 years ago@Decks that is very true. Just hoping it is a bruise there simply was enough force for it to break but could of been a really awkward position. When I lie down it does hurt my back and everything. -

I know someone who broke a rib, and the rib ended up piercing his lung.
All highly unlikely ofcourse, but better safe than sorry. -

I'm a massive hypocrite, mind (considering after almost having a cardiac arrest, I've failed to turn up for any of my follow up heart scans and ECG), but I'm aware that we're pretty much men here and we have a tendency to never want to go to the hospital, particularly A&E as we all hate the waiting and the fuss.
But if you hate the time, go in and tell them you busted your ribs but say your feel a sharp pain digging into your lung. That should get them to act faster. -

Registered 17 years agoNow that I think of it, after years of boxing and kickboxing and a whole bunch of injuries.....I never had any broken ribs. which I hear is an actual bastard of a pain to heal due to the pain in breathing.
Sounds like crucifixion-lite. -

Registered 6 years agoYeah that was my point, it takes a pretty serious dig to break your ribs, I can't see it off a push front kick. Any kind of bruising round there hurts like fuck, I'd be very surprised if it's anything more than that. -

Registered 15 years agoThe only martial art I did was kendo/kumdo. Nice breatplate to preotect from broken ribs too
Started in the UK and did a year of training while I was in Japan but obly really started competing in Korea where I won a few medals (silvers and bronzes with an 'almost' gold) in regional tournaments, both solo and team. My style was messy as hell but I tried to use spirit to make up for soneof my technical deficiencies. Sald, not been ableto doit since coming home from Korea 4 years ago as no nearby clubs so that was the end of my martial arts experience. I enjoyed it though. -

Registered 13 years agoI’m a 2nd Dan in Shotokan karate and I have had multiple rib injuries over the years. They hurt like a bastard and seem to take forever to heal. Had to take several weeks off following the 2nd Dan grading for that exact reason.
From a professional perspective, we don’t X-ray for ribs unless we have a concern about the lung. So probably not much point going to hospital unless you are in really severe pain or breathless. -
