Registered 12 years agoI think we could well see Pikmin 3 this year, I also tend to think Nintendo will have at least one surprise up their sleave aswell to announce at E3 that we come out shortly after, kind of like DKCR. Maybe a new 2D Yoshi game as the 2D flatformers seem to be fashionable currently with Nintendo. Or perhaps a new Luigi's Mansion game or something completely unexpected, you never know.
I can see Zelda possibly dropping around the end of the year, if it gets held back to 2012 I won't mind as long as it's worth the wait, I really don't want them to rush it, just get it right.
And don't forget Xenoblade and The Last Story could very well get PAL releases this year and the Wii will also probably get the latest installments of Fifa, COD etc.
Still the Wii line up is looking pretty bare, but to be fair 2010 was a great year for Wii games, and I think Nintendo also realise that their fans are going to want to save some cash for the 3DS aswell. It would be a bit much for them to expect Wii owners to buy the same amount of Wii games released in 2010, and the 3DS hardware/software on top of it aswell.
Personally I'm not worried, I have quite a few quality Wii titles still to play and buy. Infact I'm kind of glad not too much is coming out this year, I can't keep up! -

Registered 17 years agoI dont see Zelda getting pushed back to 2011. A few months back some article mentioned the game was 70% complete. 2011 holidays seems like a safe bet.
Would love NSMB Wii 2. The first one is probably my most played game on the Wii. -

Ah well, if Zelda's 70% done then I'd agree before the end of the year does seem like a safe bet. I'm hoping they bundle it with a wii remote/motion plus all-in-one thingy as I don't have motion plus yet.
I doubt we'll see a new Super Smash Bros. game on the Wii. It's worthy of a sequel but Nintendo don't tend to do sequels for those sorts of games on the same console. I guess it's hard to make them different enough to jusitfy it, I think they've learned their lesson with the Mario Party games which were knocked for being too similar from game to game.
That said, think of the excitment if they unveiled a new Smash Bros. game at E3 and you saw Mario battling Travis Touchdown or someone. I suppose you couldn't rule it out but I'd guess the 3DS will get a new Super Smash Bros. game before the Wii. -

Registered 12 years agoPossibly maybe hopefully Arc Rise Fantasia?
Kirby Epic Yarn looks AMAZING. I don't see why easiness should people off. -
Regardless of what they are set to unveil at E3, if Zelda is due in the second half of the year they'll need stuff in April-August period, so hopefully this is when as many of the numerous Japanese games Nintendo has published will be released.
Project Zero 2 remake being my pick, ideally packed with the fourth one bugfree. -

Registered 13 years agoI think that if Pikmin 3 doesn't get announced for Wii by E3 at the latest, expect to see it on Nintendo's next console. I'm half-expecting the new Zelda to be ported over as well (getting a limited release on Wii, a la Twilight Princess on GameCube). The Wii had a pretty strong 2010 for third and first party software, I'm expecting Nintendo to focus the first half of 2011 to building up the 3DS and the second half to developing its library and prepping the Wii's successor. I'm not expecting the Wii itself to get much more than a token effort. -
I still think the Wii's successor will be on hold until either Microsoft or Sony announce something. There's little point releasing a new console early because the buzz will die down when the other consoles get announced and Nintendo wont be able to rely on the casual market as many will have invested in Kinect and will be more open to other brands.
As for Pikmin 3, I still don't believe its been officially confirmed. I think Miyamoto was confused with the question he was asked when he first claimed a new pikmin was in development and just wont correct himself. I think Pikmin 3 will be the new Mario 128. The game people talk about for years, that Nintendo talks about for years, but just doesn't materialise. -

I am in the same boat as you...
I'll be happy with Epic Mickey, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn and a little bit of Just Dance 2 between now and... Summer I guess! -

Registered 12 years agoMy most anticipated would be Zelda but that includes every other game on every platform. But I must say I'm looking forward to Kirbys: Epic Yarn tremendously. That art style is beautiful (which reminded of the first time I saw Yoshi's Island and its utterly unique visuals) and makes you think more games should be individualistic/daring in their style. -

Registered 11 years agoZelda needs to be pushed back, and perhaps even a major re-think is required. It looked absolutely woeful when it was revealed. -

Registered 12 years agoAdmittedly I wasn’t blown away like past reveals (its new art style grew on me) but saying 'perhaps a major re-think is required' seems somewhat harsh given how little has ultimately been revealed. It’s Nintendo and its Zelda so I’m more than a little hopeful. -

Registered 18 years agoI too wasn't blown away by the E3 reveal - this is the least excited I've been over a home console Zelda game for years - but I'll still be all over it once it's released. Control-wise it did look woeful at the E3 presentation, but that was attributed to other issues - hands-on previews since then have been very positive.
As for the actual gameplay, it's still early days - all we know is that there has been some sort of change to the template, apparently dungeons will be more integrated in the overworld and the structure won't be as rigid. I do agree that the Zelda template is well-worn and needs evolving, and quite frankly I wouldn't mind the game being delayed if it means some great new ideas and more polish. -

Registered 12 years agoYeah I agree, there can’t be many that don’t want the Zelda franchise to evolve by this stage, (TP is a great game that was damaged by familiarity). It needs to forge a new identity like the Mario franchise. I also would happily have them postpone it if it wasn’t up to scratch. But, I wouldn’t worry about it being released in an unpolished state as I do trust Nintendo in that regard as their titles are usually polished to the extreme. -

Registered 12 years agoI mean with that logic you can dismantle virtually every franchise known to man, if you break it down to just mechanics and don’t include some of the finer points as to what makes the game different. I agree about the need to evolve everybody must do by now. But, it has to remain truthful to the essence of what makes a Zelda game while taking a bold step towards the future. Majora’s Mask was a prime example (for its time) as to what I mean. It was familiar but it was sufficiently twisted enough to set it apart from what had gone before. A shame they never pursued this avenue of possibility. -
