*Exaggerated for effect. I hope. A bit of a rant. I took a walk just now during my lunch break through a nearby park and now I'm incredibly pissed off. The first incident- not a massive deal, but it's the principle; I was sitting on a bench eating my lunch when out of nowhere one of those massive scary looking dogs bounded over and started trying to eat my sandwich. The two owners casually let this happen for a few seconds before calling it off. No apology, no small talk, nothing. They just walked on as if it was totally fine for that to happen; for my lunch to almost get stolen or slobbered on. A little bit annoying, I thought. The second incident, which has genuinely angered me- 10 or 15 minutes later, I was continuing my walk. A woman passed by in front of me, followed a few seconds later by her dog. When it saw me, it suddenly entered into an aggressive stance and ran towards me about as fast as it could, growling and barking, jumping up and being very intimidating. As with the above incident, the lack of urgency on the owner's part was astonishing. After a few seconds she got the dog to stop, then without saying anything just walked off without looking back. No apology either. Fucker. I very nearly snapped, but managed to remain calm and called after her, "so no apology then?" to which her panicked reply claimed "I didn't see what happened, I'm sorry". She clearly did see what happened though, and there's no way she didn't hear all the growling and barking. How the hell is that acceptable? It was a clear act of aggression. Why can no one** control their fucking dog properly? I'm still raging over it. It's so, so arrogant to not even acknowledge what happened or apologise for it, in both cases. Next time I'm going to get stabby. **Yes, clearly not 'no one', there are lots of responsible dog owners, yada yada. |
Why are 90%* of dog owners f*cking idiots?

Registered 16 years agoIndeed. I don't mind dogs, but the owners can be complete fucktards.
Many owners treat them like harmless children, when they could realistically hurt someone quite badly. They are animals and they need to be carefully controlled. -

Registered 13 years agoMost dog owners don't apologise for this type of stuff as in their eyes it's harmless. Obviously if you don't own a dog / don't like dogs then they're pretty intimidating.
I was the same until I was asked to look after a dog for two weeks whilst their owners went away. Since then I'm a lot more relaxed around dogs and they seem to just ignore me. -
Fuck dogs, and cats, and all pet owners. Animals in the fucking house? You're all cunts living in smelly houses with shit and hair all over them. -

Registered 17 years agoThe worst incident I ever had was where I went to a dinner party and the owner let their dog roam around the dinning table. Which would have been fine to a point only the dog decided it wanted my dinner so I spent most of the meal in an impromptu wrestling match with a rather large dog while the owners acted completely oblivious to what was going on. Keep in mind this was a dinner party of 4 so its not like they could not see me fighting their dog back from my plate. I had the thing in a head lock for most of the meal just keeping it away from my food.
Some dog owners are fucking clueless about how they let their dogs behave. -

Well yeah, the first incident was harmless really, still annoying though as I don't want my sandwich touched by anyone or anything. Like I say, it's the principle.
The second incident was clearly not harmless however. It was one step away from assault. It's only cos I stayed calm and kept my arms away from its mouth that I didn't get bitten.

Registered 17 years agoMy experience is that the majority of dog owners are indeed idiots and/or a sad bunch trying to replace a lack of human affection with an animal.
Dog ownership (and probably child ownership) should have some sort of benchmark or qualifications attached to it. Also for the good of the animals. -

Registered 16 years agoI've seen stuff like this happen far too many times. We need specific dog walking parks or fenced in areas where they can be let off their leads. -
As a dog owner, I agree that lots of fellow owners are morons. Not picking up their dog's shit is one thing that really pisses me off too - yeah, it isn't pleasant, but either is stepping in it, you cunts.
