Ooh, I have that watch, though on the default nylon strap. I like your upgrade. (Also have the same wallet ;))

    Stop being me!

That nylon strap it comes on is absolute bobbins, bin it - but keep the signed buckle, it's on a spring bar so easy to unclip.

It's just a mid-priced leather nato from amazon that's in my pic, but yeah, it looks quite swish imo. Looking forward to it getting a little age on it.

Another option is an aviator style strap, with the little metal studs. It's a Flieger Type B homage after all, just thankfully not 46mm like this original.

So I remembered why I didn't bother with the Seiko much, it runs -15 seconds per day. So over the last few days I've been unscrewing the back, nudging the regulator arm a smidge into the + and checking it against my phone every 6 to 12 hours. After a few tiny adjustments it's at most a half second out in 24 hours.

    Pretty chuffed with that.

I just wish it had hacking, it's permanently 15 seconds slow now.

I've been wanting a watch for ages but can't find what I want. I have tiny nerd wrists so most watches look silly on me. I like the look of analog but digital is so much easier to read, wouldn't mind if it had both. Don't want it to be too flashy, preferably black?
Think I once saw some swiss army watches that were alright.

Itís been proven that our brains can read analogue quicker than digital. You recognise the one symbol of what the hands represent faster than you can read the individual numbers of a digital.

    Perhaps they reconsidered.
They didn't, and they are selling it back to the previous owner:

I don't mind either way really, if I'm honest it's mostly for looks, I'll probably still be checking my phone for the time for weeks!

@Fake_Blood the current trend with fashion watches is big at 40mm and up but if you get a proper watch you can get them in a far more reasonable size. The one I posted at the bottom of the last page is 37mm, many are 38mm and the difference 2 or 3mm makes is surprising.

    Best of both worlds :)

Analogue face for reading the time, digital for timing events. You can read the time quicker glancing at a clock, but only to an approximation. When timing an event, digital is better as it can show a more precise time.

Telling the time with hands has always been tricky for me because (I assume) my dyslexia creates some sort of block with that type of pattern recognition, which is why I like to challenge it. Takes me about 4-5 seconds or more before I've registered what it's doing and which numbers the hands are pointing at. Or maybe I'm retarded.

Nice, instantly recognisable design, a handsome watch indeed.

Because I'm a completely contradictory cunt, I now own three watches worth more than a grand for my wrist.

I bought myself a Speedmaster this year, because I am not lucky enough to have a partner who would celebrate my birthday with such a gift.

Nice. I still have my eye on a Seamaster Planet Ocean (with orange bits), but can't justify another (and much more expensive) watch right now. Maybe if all goes well for my 50th I might treat myself...

What does it say about you if your partner gives you something called ďspeedmasterĒ though?

I've a Bulova 21 jewels auto. Anyone know roughly how long these things cost to fix? It's either not staying wound as long as it should or it's not winding automatically with my movement as it should.

    I like this thread.

I picked this up on prime day, it's not automatic, but these days I'm sick of babying autos, setting them every day and, probably worst of all, getting them serviced so went for my first analogue quartz. I love how accurate it is, and I think it looks ace on a proper canvas strap. Plus it ticks all my boxes for a good beater military style field watch. The fully lumed arabics are something else for a sub-200 quid watch as well.

Don't give much of a shit about watches but that one Pete posted is quite pretty. How much?

'bout $500 assuming it's a quartz. Double if it's auto.

When I can justify spunking a grand on another watch, it will most likely be a Hamilton Ventura (which I appreciate is marmite). And I will sit like Thanos with my watches and be content. Whilst the world burns.
