Hello there. Square Enix is holding a community day for Sleeping Dogs this Thursday at the company's offices in Wimbledon. It's a chance for people interested in the game to play it and also chat with Dan Sochan, the producer on the project.
I'm not just showing off on their behalf though, we have five invitations to give away for the 4pm-5pm slot.
If you're interested let me know either by posting in here or sending me a PM or email - tomc [at] eurogamer [dot] net. Please make sure you send me your name and email address. I'll pick the winners tomorrow lunchtime.
Winners need to be able to get to Square's offices in Wimbledon for 4pm on Thursday and should be at least 18 years of age. -

Registered 17 years agoI saw this video the other day for this as well. It's a 40 minutes hands on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jzDxttuq5fY
The hands on's a little limited as they looked to be in some locked down starting area and it only features the hand to hand combat. It's actually looking like this could be pretty good. Fingers crossed anyway.

Registered 17 years agoYou can see some of the cast on that 40 minute hands on. But some names were fuzzed out and they said they are not allowed to reveal them yet. I have no idea who they could be. One that was revealed was Lucy Lui. -

Registered 16 years agoSo about how the Japanese version is going to be altered. You know, I think I'd rather play a Sleeping Dogs that cuts a sex scene and penalizes you for lamping civilians. Can has option in Western version pls? -

Registered 16 years agoIIRC they usually had sexual content removed, general cuts to gameplay that is you vs innocent bystander (no cash reward for wailing on pedestrians), and a Z rating. -

Anyone know if there's a version of this out there without these two idiots talking all over the top of it?

Can't wait for this now, probably won't win any GOTY awards but I'm sure it'll be solid enough and I love the setting and how much care and details the devs have put into creating it. In a way I'd like the characters to only speak Cantonese to add to the immersion, but at least it's not all in English/broken English. -

Registered 19 years agoAbout 15 minutes of gameplay footage here from Comic Con
Bit of a Q & A session going on too - although I like how Gamespot get kids too young to own the game to ask a couple of the questions.
Oh and here's a short documentary the team made with Georges St Pierre about his involvement in the game. Little bit of gameplay footage, including one of the environmental takedowns being throwing an enemy into a meat grinder!

47 minutes of some Czech (I think?) dudes talking over a let's play of the game:
Some early review scores from some supposed Square Enix flyer:

And a section of a Gamerzines preview which gets the thumbs up from me:
http://www.gamerzines.com/playstation/sleeping.html
The last time we saw a game capture the essence of Hong Kong quite so magnificently was when we jogged through the streets of Shenmue 2′s 1980-era districts.
An early section of the game sees Wei asked to hit the Night Market to collect protection money. The market bustles with activity, Wei navigating crowds in Assassin’s Creed fashion, ducking and weaving through the Hong Kong masses.

Registered 17 years agoI have been waiting for this since it was True Crime 3*, so looking forward to it.
Played TC NYC on the original xbox a month or so back, still stands up well and has some good features that the likes of GTA/Saints could use.

Registered 19 years agoYeah I've got it on pre-order, hopefully they'll be a steady enough stream of DLC (see, not everyone is cynical and against it!) to keep me from throwing it in the swapsies thread (thus losing a few quid). -

Have you kept your Just Cause 2 save file? If so, and you buy Sleeping Dogs, you're in for a neat treat.
Cool beans.
If you have a Just Cause 2 save file you'll be able to download a Just Cause 2 clothes set for use in Sleeping Dogs.
The United Front Games' gangster kill 'em up has dipped into into Avalanche Studios' superb open world blow 'em up for the in-game content, free to download at launch for all platforms. Both games are published by Square Enix.
Browse Wei Shen's safehouse wardrobe and you'll gain the unique player outfit featuring Rico Rodriguez' trademark threads.
Wear the clothes and you'll get a boost to your action hijack ability, allowing you to perform stunt-style takeovers of enemy vehicles from an even greater distance. -

So... Pre-order DLC... Not sure which to go for. Here in SA I only have 2 options. One comes with just the Martial Arts pack, and the other comes with both the GSP pack and the Police Protection Pack.
