That's a way better dive than I could have done. On that basis I wish her the best of luck.

Plus she's a bit of a QT 3.14, like her predecessor. Although Priti always gave that "I'd climb over all of your rotting corpses to get the POWERS" vibe.

    @GoatApocalypse That is just brilliant.

For what it's worth, I'm on the fence about punching Nazis, not because violence is inherently wrong, but because it's generally more difficult to be taken seriously among other people with genuine arguments. You can't beat a Nazi in this mythical "marketplace of ideas" because they don't have any rational ideas.

As the saying goes (origin unknown, despite being wrongly attributed to both Mark Twain and George Carlin): "Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience."

But when he started taking the piss out of that "marketplace of ideas" crap (which I believe was started by that twisted fuckwit Milo Yanni-whatever), I was on the floor in stitches.

As many here will know, I firmly believe we should punch Nazis until there are no Nazis left.

If you stare into the abyss.....you should still punch Nazis in the face.

Have you ever asked yourself why the vast majority of your political venom is aimed at the left and not the right?

Personally I expect better of the left and would hold them to a higher standard. I think, "you're supposed to be the good guys so stop trying to excuse racism and sexism".

Same for left wing nepotism, expenses fiddling, and spreading fake news.

Obviously for a lot of people the national discourse is directed by a broadly right wing press but that doesn't exempt the left from legit criticism.

"It's ok if our side does it" or letting things slide because we're "the good guys" are stupid opinions held by valueless morons.

All that is well and good if you're holding both sides to account.

But you only ever seem to post about Labour.

This year four Labour county and parish councillors and Green in the general election.

I just believe that if you're going to claim the moral high ground it's important to live up to it and call out those who fall so far short.

Plus it's no secret how bad the Tories so the value is in discussing the more awkward truths some people want brushed under the carpet

And a return to the centre would see a return to a higher moral compass...right?

That's not what we're talking about right here. I'm saying the left should confront its own prejudices and not look the other way by telling itself it is Good. Whereas you appear to be screaming the opposite by deflecting and trying to change the subject.

If you think being a racist or bigot is fine if you're otherwise on the good side then that's up to you but I wouldn't want Jared O'Mara or Kelvin Hopkins or someone who blames the worlds ills on 'the Jews' representing me.

Higgy, why is holding Labour to a high standard such an uncomfortable position for you?

You don't sacrifice your values by wanting to root out bigotry, don't go all Rotherham Labour councillor on us.
