It would be electoral suicide. They would get ripped to shreds by the media and the Brexitsphere. Combine that with Labour and Corbyn's other shortcomings and it's difficult to see how it could play well. They couldn't even depend on hardcore Remainers as a fair few will already consider him to be unreliable.

You are correct of course, but the fuck-witted nature of current politics and the abject ignorance of vast swathes of the electorate mean it's all arse-over-tit.
Yeah, this. There aren't enough seats for them to win a GE if they lose the working class seats that are traditionally Labour but voted in leave.

You would have to factor in the return of UKIP in that scenario though which would throw everything up in the air a bit more.

Its all such a fucking mess, I am just thankful to have a potential route to getting out the country in the next year before it properly goes to shit.

Fwiw, your position is easy to respect, firstly, because it might not be too far from mine, but also because you are willing to reasonably debate, persuade, concede etc. Someone else could learn a thing or two from your general spaghetti hoop-ness and the thread would be a far better place.
    We'll see.

Some Tories are again saying the Lords should be reformed and reined in to 'stop thwarting Brexit'. Ah, so its democracy and sovereignty when it suits you.

I assume the Mail are ignoring the fact that the hardline Brexiters in the government are the ones that blocked lords reform last time it was on the table?

Also that they ran a front page celebrating that the lords were protected.

They probably think we should go back to having proper Lords instead of sycophantic appointees

To rescue what little creibility he has left, Farron needs to get his arse down the nearest gay sauna for some outreach.

I'm sure having his name synonymous with gay sex isn't entirely what he had in mind when he got into politics.

'HERE LIES TIM FARRON. HE TALKED ABOUT BUMMING. A LOT.'

I'm guessing people just wanna know if he likes bumming or not. It's in the public interest.

He seems pleasant enough in a nerdy sort of way. Plus he's been good at identifying lots of the issues the party has with voters and where they can carve their own identity again.

Only he has terrible personal politics.

If only he had picked the Tories. He could have been homophobic with gay abandon and no one would have batted an eyelid.

One wonders if this is really how it felt under the Weimar in Berlin in the 1920s. Belief that bust was over, that liberalism was in full swing, that the mass violence and hate wouldn't happen again.

That's not to dismiss the the inequality that always existed.

I know she can't smile - it'd be inappropriate - but Christ that is the face of someone who is numb; is putting it on and really doesn't care. I bet she practised it in front of the mirror before. But it matters not, enough of the population feels the same.
