I am looking for a good puzzle game on Wii (boxed or WiiWare) as a present for my father. Preferably the game shouldn't make any demands on fasts reflexes or exact controlling skills, which eliminates puzzle platformers and unfortunately even puzzle adventures like Zack and Wiki (as much as I loved it myself). He does like classic Match-3 or sorting games, but I wouldn't want to buy him something he either plays for free online anyway (e.g. Bejeweled), or played back in the days on other consoles already (Tetris, Columns, Puzzle Bobble ...). So after an hour of looking through ratings lists I got: - Art Style Cubello Sounds like a decent color matcher. Can anybody tell me if it gets more difficult to control (much faster?) on higher levels? - Boom Blox Bash Party Sounds pretty good and original, although I'm not sure if the controls might turn out to be a little too fiddly. And that's pretty much what I found so far. If I have missed any essential puzzle games which would preferably focus on difficult puzzles over reaction times and controls, I'd be happy about any tips you can give me. A Wii Professor Layton would have been absolutely perfect I think ![]() Thanks in advance for your help. |

Registered 13 years agoI played Boom Blox 1 and its a good puzzle game aswell as having lots of other little games mixed in. Its all very simple, controls easily and is fun in multiplayer. I cant vouch for number 2 but if its more of the same its worth getting.
The silly cartoon bits could be a bit offputting for some
Wii party has a couple of good puzzle games but they are mostly multiplayer.
Broken sword is really good point and click even if its not a traditional puzzle game. -
World of Goo- it only uses the remote and one button, and is a very peaceful, relaxing game, I find. -

Also look at the Art Style games. -

Registered 11 years agoArt Style Cubello - fantastic game and yes, it does get tough later on.
Boom Blox Bash Party is a very physical game - my arms ache after some full on gaming on that one - will your father appreciate this?
Check out Art of Balance, Fluidity (not sure if out yet)
Goo is great. -

I had completely forgotten about World of Goo, while Cubello and Boom Blox still sound like a good choice. There's still a few days to go, so I haven't made up my mind yet, but I think I have a good range of choices now. Thanks.

I second the Broken Sword suggestion. Brilliant game that works well on the Wii -
A boy and his blob is a laid back puzzle platformer
