You can only see his posts when you reply to a thread he has posted in.

Is this some wierd alternative to banning? Or just some forum fault or exploit?

    Bit odd, isn't it.

Did he do anything to deserve a ban? I know he was spammer, but that's never resulted in errol, razz or vermin getting banned.

Errol and Razz were harmless inoffensive spammers. MOT is more insulting and arrogant than Gatwick Parrot.

I know that when threads get deleted they remain on the system but are inaccessible to non-admins. Maybe if you delete a user something similar happens (except for if you reply, which we know doesn't completely work anyway).

Now, They had every right to be suspicious, I would have been were situations reversed.

I am not MOT's sock puppet, I can promise you that much... :)

MOT has been globally ignored until things calm down a bit.

We'll put others on global ignore if there we see similar behaviour/or they are reported to us and we think the place would be better off without them.

If he re-registers under a new name and becomes a nuisance, we'll delete his account(s). If things calm down a bit we'll un-ignore him and his posts will re-appear.

Now that's quite a neat solution.

Except if he's making posts saying: Hello? Hello? And then they all reappear.

A rather elegant solution really, as it gives MOT a chance to re-evaluate his behaviour, rather than using the big-stick method of simply banning his account/blocking his IP.

Once, I thought he was MOTs puppet - but the post timing was very suspicious. Anyway sorry Ugnet.

And if you want cliquey and insular - visit #eurogamer.
  • Deleted user 26 October 2004 22:17:08
I don't feel good about this at all. I never really wanted him to be banned, just to stop tarding all over every single thread, which funnily enough, I think his last post were words basically to that effect.

The thing is Ahab, its very well going on about how cliquey this place is, and how it was all a witch hunt and such, but I don't really think you are being very fair. First, I am a regular poster, but I don't think I really fall into the EG clique thing that you are talking about. I've been to no meets, and Ive never once been on #eurogamer.

I come here to relax and chat with like minded people. But recently, I have been unable to do this due to MOT being rude to somone in nearly every single thread that i read. And its not just the regulars. He merely antogonises them. What's much worse is the number of newbies he has probably scared away with his immediate crashing down on them with his pseudo-regular status that he has given himself. It was making this place quite unpleasant.

But like I say, I always wanted him to just stop it, but if that wasn't an option, then yes, I guess banning him is justifiable, if he is ruining it for eveyone else (except for you of course)

I don't know, I hope he does come back with a better attitude, I really do.

From what I've seen MOT is happiest when he is the centre of attention, see Daily Mail, name change & I'm leaving threads. Right now he is probably ecstatic about his notoriety, browsing the forum left handed.
