    Yeah! I got home today, looked at my emails and saw a "your order has been dispatched" email! I nearly jumped for joy!

    Until I saw it was for Midway Arcade Treasures 2... Bollocks.

    You'll be playing Mortal Kombat II and Rampage tomorrow...my jealousy knows no bounds ;-)

    Seriously though, are all these online stores going to be able to ship their entire SA preorders in one day? I hope so :/

    The chances of:

    (a) Simplygames despatching my copy tomorrow;
    (b) Royal Mail managing to deliver it on time instead of losing it in the sorting office for a fortnight;
    (c) the local thieving tards not swiping it from my letterbox before I get a chance to get to it;

    are looking remarkably slim. If I'm playing this on Friday I'm going to be very surprised.

    I keep buying the GTA games because i want to see what the appeal is, but after wasting about £120 now trying to see the appeal i think i finally give up, and can't even be faffed to rent SA.

    When people said the videogames industry would end up like the music/movie industry, i thought it would be a good thing. but when i see a brilliant game such as Outrun 2 getting to number 30-odd, and stuff like GTA get to number one. I realise it's a sad day for gaming.

    im just to friggin hardcore ;)

    Outrun 2? Bollocks!
    What I want to know is why BG&E ICO and PDO did badly. Hmmm maybe the best way to make a good game is to give it a 3-character initial.

    FF7
    GTA
    PGR
    GT3

    2-letter if it's for PC. HL, UT, WC, TA, CS etc.

    /falls asleep

    GTA manages to suceed by trying to be most things to most people. You start of with the core: missions varying from simple clocked driving to stationary gunning you can see solid examples of in all genres and which don't challenge you too far so most people can get through them without too many retries. Add in extra softcore bonuses like death and capture both incur a small fine and loss of weapons but no real problem for the casual gamer. Dump in a whole bunch of optional stuff for the more hardcore to enjoy and wrap it all up in a city large enough to get to know and the choice to go anywhere in it.

    Obviously it isn't to everyone's tastes but for a lot of people that is a great concept brought to fruition with a lot of care and attention. Obviously, with such a broad brush some things probably annoy a lot of people. I'm still annoyed at the lack of indicators and unrealistic driving patterns which often cause me to lose a mission as a car randomly turns with no indication ending up in a 'random' failure which repetition will overcome.
