    :D

Try re-enacting General Grevous and Obi Wan.

    Point made, innit.

    @Kalel:
The occasional bit of fan service ok, the "every character from the OT needs to be shoehorned in here in some way" thing was ridiculous...

I agree with the Yoda comment, the goblin trying to steal a flashlight bit was great...Never once does he do anything like that in the PT...

And yes, Portman's belly was a highlight...And I did think she got better at phoning in the role..."Anakin, you're breaking my heart" although being a hitherto unseen megamixture of corn and cheese combined into writing was actually very well delivered...IMO...

    "I love you"
    "I know"
That beats out any and all dialogue from the PT...

Darth Maul Obi Wan in comparison was instantly forgettable as it was just OTT and meant nothing.

At least it was real, and kinda cool as a result. CGI Yoda against CGI Emperor was lame.
    True, yeah.

Yoda was shit. The flms were shit. The franchise (Clone Wars etc.) is now shit.

I've already told my son after showing him IV that there are only 3 films. I'll be happy lying to him until he discovers the truth. Maybe the same day he realises Santa doesn't exists, who knows?

It's much easier ffwd the scenes with Armadillo and Anakin. The films hang together so much better.

The start of the Darth Maul Obi Wan fight where you first see the double ended light sabre is one of the best scenes in that film IMO.

Again, stealing points off that internet dude, but the reason this works is because they are far more interesting characters, which is summed up very nicely in that little exchange you quote.

I'm fairly sure it wasn't in the script either and Ford improvised it which makes it even more awesome.

    4½.

He doesn't really understand it but he likes playing with my Star Wars Lego (Vader's Fighter, sandspeeder, Hoth Cave) while he watches it.

That exchange was ad-libbed as well IIRC...

Also a very ballsy move I thought was the ending of Empire, just leaving so much unfinished and uncertain...

From Episode II to III, well there was no real cliffhanger...They're making an army, we've got clones...The End...

Yeah, my Son is now twelve and started watching Star Wars when he was three. Initially, he loved the prequels, but now he's grown out of them and sees them as the worthless piece of shit they are, maybe let him decide?

Cue morriss rage when his son makes a mistake

"What the hell is a sandspeeder doing on Hoth?! Go to your room!"

Yeah, the Yippeee thing was horrible...Well, the whole kid in general was awful...

Well, the prequels were always going to be flawed in that we always knew how they were ultimately going to end up.

I still think they missed a bit of a trick in not getting to Darth Vador a bit quicker. Had the third and maybe some of the second film been about Darth Vador kicking some serious arse then I think they'd have been better.

One of my biggest problems with the prequels was the '....because we can' attitude that pervaded everything.

One of the worst being every character other than the jedis being badly designed CGI.

Boba Fett was a lameass who fell into the sarlacc pit but spawned a cult following. None of the shitty creations come close in terms of design and character.

There isnt one memorable character introduced in the prequels. Not fucking one.

It would have been so easy as well, it's such a typical fall from grace, tradegy type story it should have been easy to write a 3 part story of a jedi prodigy that slowly falls to the dark side, replete with all the emotion that would entail explored in depth..

not a 15 minute, "hey your wifes dying 'cos you saw it in a dream huh? that sucks, you know i might be able to save her if she actually does die, all you need to do is go kill some children?"

    anakin: "dude, sweet!"

I agree with you in theory, but considering how stupid the 3 minutes we got of him at the end of ROTS were, we probably got off lightly..
