Yup. Easily the most significant events in the show so far. Everything else was pointless political bs.
And the man responsible for just about everything since season one finally getting killed
    Thoros?

That is where i am coming down on it. The politics were great but when you tee up the entire series with magic ice zombies in the north, you know that at some point the sitting in a room talking will have to end (though there was still alot of sitting down and talking in season 7).
Sure. But one can lament the loss of most of the scheming and talking, because (imo) that's the best part of the show. While still recognising that there's a good reason for the talking and scheming to stop.

    I cant disagree.

my preference is that they sacked off the night king bollocks to be honest. They could easily have had a more aggressive tribe of wildings that the position that could have allowed the scheming to continue with a larger overarching threat.

which leads me to a, they should do a fall of the roman empire show. Scheming senete, in effective emporer and the emergance of the huns

If everyone travels at the speed of Jon Snow, they could probably outrun the White Walkers indefinitely.

    (I know it's old, but...)

I kind of assumed they were holding until they had a way past the wall to be fair. Which is a little problematic as it means everyone else was actually completely right to ignore the white walker threat after all.

I understand the feeling of nothing happening in S7. Tons happened, but it all went by so quickly with no time for anything to breathe or have real impact and consequences, or even build up. Was just 7 episodes of things happening. There's nothing in there that'll be as memorable as things like Mountain v Viper, Red Wedding because those plot lines all got an entire season of buildup.

Well, then that just makes Jon Snow even more of a dumb motherfucker than he already was the season before.

Also, plot armour meant that all the deaths were meaningless.

Well it all goes to the theory that they set a trap. Knight King is connected to bran and new he was watching, that lead to Brans message which led to Jon heading north only for the walkers to wait instead of attack which bought the dragons.

And that lead to them having their way past the wall

Not that I'm surprised as the final season was rumoured to not be coming until 2019 but it is still disappointing to have it officially confirmed. I was hoping for a late 2018 showing to be honest. I will be rewatching seasons 1-7 again this year for sure but not everyone has the time to do that so it does make me wonder if the delay might be detrimental to the ratings of the final season. Hope the final season is worth the long wait...

    I think it will.

I really enjoyed the first few seasons but I have lost any real desire to find out what happens.

I'll watch it when it comes out but I'm more invested in other shows now.

I think hype will kick in and you'll all be aboard the GOT train again.

Having said that, I'm totally late to the party and have just watched every episode over the last couple of months, so I'm totally onboard.

I'm trying to find out if sky Atlantic will be sorting this in 4k.
It seems a good reason to upgrade my telly and sky subscription 😊

@Amadeus-393 i dont think any of the previous plots matter anymore.

GOT kind of jumped the shark after the fifth season when they ran out of books and interesting dialogue. The later seasons were just exposition, twist fight, exposition, someone looking smug, sansa crying, King of Nurth. end.

To be fair... I imagine that is what the books would have been.

That’s why GRRM is now advertising another prequel book instead of WW

I'm sure I'll watch but I can't imagine on the evidence of the last few seasons that they'll even come close to providing a satisfying conclusion to the story in 6 episodes no matter how long they are.

Tip for those who miss scheming and backstabbing:
watch Three Kingdoms on YouTube. There's a 94 episode TV adaptation from 2010 up in (almost) all its glory. Episode 6 is missing from YouTube but can be found on other sites.

I'm really enjoying it. Not as well produced as GoT mind, but it's no shitty soap opera either. Some fantastic acting as well.

    And link
