Just had an ad scroll down in front of me on EG asking me to take part in a market survey about my online activities. It can arse off, frankly. |

Yep, we've not got anything like that running on the site. Think you might need to run a wee system scan, mememememe. -
I am malware free. -

Registered 15 years agoJust got this now. As above ScorecardResearch it was called. Nothing untoward on my computer too. Have only seen this on EG. -
Happened to me last night also. -
Yeah, scorecardresearch are amongst the cookies EG tries to set when you visit, I allow ones I recognise (eurogamer.net, facebook.com, etc) but block the shit like that. -

Erm, any chance this can actually get fixed? Only happens on this site, it's definitely something to do with your side, I have all ads blocked yet this stupid thing keeps popping up. Fifth time now in about 7-8 minutes. And you can't always get rid of it.
Funnily enough, when you click on 'why am I getting this survey', it just disappears. -
Here's some info to help you get rid:
"The sites which are having the problem include code from Technorati, which itself includes code from extreme-dm.com, which includes a reference to a script on the site b.scorecardresearch.com. For some reason, that script is not loading correctly, and it is not marked as inessential to the page, and so the page load is blocked.
This is an example of why including scripts from a 3rd party site in your website is a dangerous thing to do. Do you trust everyone that the owner of that script trusts?"
If you even Google it you can see that sites have found it to be a problem, and that actually it sits on the users machine and slows it the fuck down. Which is precisely what mine has been doing for about three weeks now. It's barely useable (it's not that fast to start with, but it's become an absolute crawl as soon as I connect to the web now). Again this appears to be a common feature with this intrusive beacon.
You can remove the beacon by going to their site, but then it places a cookie on your machine to stop it running. Then when you clean your machine of cookies, it just installs the beacon again.
I'll leave it until tomorrow but as it's basically making the machine so bloody painful to use on the net, if it's not fixed by then I'll just clean it and not come back to EG until it's fixed so I can at least use the net without feeling as though I'm on a 56.6k dial up (assuming it is the reason for the slowness, which it would appear from a quick Google that it is). Hopefully one of the EG staff could then email me when it's removed. -
Bumped for today -
Ghostery for Chrome users will block this ("Comscore Beacon" is the entry to block). -

Usually all this fuss goes on and I'm one of the one's going 'no idea what you're talking about. All fine my end.'
But not this time!
( Still it's kept me off of EG quite a bit, and more time for Ass Creed Brotherhood instead.
