I imagine Lex doesn't talk.about game buying habits at parties. -

What's that got to do with anything to do with me having a dull personality?

I've not bought a game on release for about two years now, it's just mad. Wait a couple months and you save a fortune. -
I am reminded of Louis Tully and his strange little party from Ghostbusters. -

Registered 13 years agoPlayed the demo of this last night and enjoyed it. The art style reminded me a lot of Fable, but thankfully that's where the comparisons end as it was actually fun to play and seemed to have some depth to it.
I do agree that its definitely one to wait a while for a price drop though. -
It really is Fable crossed with Skyrim, but that's no mad thing. I like how light and fluffy it all is. -

I was a mod who quit, though. Hardly high standing!
Anyway, back on topic, I wonder how much the double marketing (Mass Effect 3) works on these games. Items in both for owning them both, interesting to see how successful it will be. -
I'd rather get this than ME3
-
Just wait 6 months you'll be able to get them both cheaper than just one of them on release. -
No it's for the full game, i'm pretty sure!
The message in the demo told me I get them when I buy ME3. It makes sense as it's all about incentive to buy them not just play the demo.

Oh dear. The release of this will probably coincide with me finishing Skyrim. I are doomed. -

You probably unlock them for the demos as well, but the idea will be to use them in the proper game. Details of the unlocks below.
MASS EFFECT 3 BONUSES
By playing the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo, gamers will receive two unlocks for Mass Effect 3 when the highly anticipated game releases on March 6, 2012:
Reckoner Knight Armor: This armor will maximize damage done in close-quarters combat while a beefed–up power cell feeds energy into weapon systems to increase projectile velocity.
The Chakram Launcher: This weapon uses a fabricator to manufacture lightweight, explosive ammunition discs. This weapon is earned after completing the Reckoning demo and watching the trailer at the end.
KINGDOM OF AMULUR: RECKONING BONUSES
By playing the upcoming Mass Effect 3 demo, fans will unlock the following items for Reckoning when the game launches on February 7, inspired by Mass Effect:
N7 Armor: Players can unlock special armor inspired by Commander Shepard’s iconic N7 battle armor including Helm, Cuirass, Gauntlets, Chausses and Greaves.
Onmiblade Daggers: A holographic blade stemming from Commander Shepard’s Omni-Tool, the Omni-blade allows players to stab enemies in close combat. Once players install and play the Mass Effect 3 demo, they will unlock the daggers.

Ahh I see, yeah it's just the demo but you have to buy the other game to get the items. Why I was asking whether this will work well, be interesting to see how sales of this compare with ME. -

I was just pointing out how incredibly lacking in emotion and sense of "fun" that attitude is, imo. -
Aren't you the guy who complains about magazine scores being 'spoiled'?

Registered 14 years agoSeems like a decent, well crafted game. And I like the guys who are behind it.
But there's quite a few releases coming over the next 6 weeks, need to get my schedule sorted. -
I can see this being a massive time sink. I haven't had the desire to replay a demo again after two play throughs for ages. I really liked the depth that was hinted at in the combat by my playthrough. -

Or that...I can't afford all the games on release. There is always that.

Yes, I feel that this is in line with my "be more excited about stuff" attitude. Not caring about seeing EDGE's scores before you read the review is, imo, pretty much the same po-faced attitude as "bah humbug, I don't need games on release when you can get them all cheaper later".

Obviously, that is a totally different situation and applies to many people. If that was what you had said, I would of course not have replied the way I did.

Yeah, works nicely with a pad, though the camera is pretty much unbearable when playing with mouse and keyboard. Smooth enough on my PC, but with the odd weird pause and hall-of-mirrors effect - the head of 38 Studios has gone on record as saying that the demo is a three month old build, demo responsibilities for which were farmed out to a third party, and in truth it's nothing massive really. I'll probably give it a week or two, though.

Demo's up on Steam, too, if you prefer that. I got it on Origin because it appeared there first. As a side note, it handles alt-tabbing from full screen really well. I think I noticed because I've run into a few games lately which get a little huffy if they don't have focus all the time. -
Oh excellent, when I saw it on Origin first it crossed my mind that maybe EA were playing silly buggers again.
