| Think I might get a 'GOTY' edition of this - hopefully after it's had a level-cap raise and a difficulty buff patched in. |

Registered 17 years agoMost disappointing game of the year for me.
It's just so boring. And I love lewts. -
New DLC incoming. Achievements are live, DLC isn't. Anybody heard anything? -
I've played a bit of the DLC tis good arrrrr. -
Yeah, I've got one achievement left to get and it's done. Surprisingly, none of the chievements are story related. I had to check trueachievements because I'd finished the story amd nothing had popped. -

Registered 13 years agoNew DLC (17th April) announced on the front page, which sounds quite interesting, but sadly still no sign of a rise to the level cap.

Registered 13 years agoMan, there should be a law against this thing. Trying to finish it before The Witcher 2 arrives, but it's not going to happen. There's so much to do even without DLC!
Working through House of Sorrows and still getting sucked into other quests. It'd be rude not to I guess!
70 hours of my life lost so far. I reckon I might get done in about 90hours with luck. -

Registered 13 years agoBalls. Just failed my first quest due to accidentally killing my ally by hitting up accidentally while sneaking and getting them mad at me.
Last save was 30min back and I'd done too much to go back to that. She got killed by baddies while i fought the main one. I thought they were invulnerable, but that may get cancelled if you attack them.
At lesst it was only a fairly meaningless side quest! -
Not long now until the DLC hits. I should just have time to finish it before Amazon deliver Witcher 2. Can't wait. -

I thought they were invulnerable too until one of mine got killed. I was running away from a load of angry Jottun and bears that I didn't want to deal with at the time. I got to a safe place and saved. Then I wondered what all the noise was, so went back to have a look, and saw my quest-giver getting mauled to death by a bear. Oops.

Registered 13 years agoOn the final stretch now after 75 hours with a good 10 side quests still left untouched and some dull sounding ones swerved all together in my final push.
I think I should get this done whe next time I play it. Although I do have some distance to travel to get to what I assume is the final showdown area, so who knows how many other side quests I'll hit on the way, but this area does seem to have a lot less of them so far.
Then it's finally time to get started on The Witcher 2!

Just snatched the online pass for this in PSN for free.
-_-
Just randomly looking at stuff, saw KoA, thought I'd have a look at the DLC for it. Saw the Online Pass wasn't priced so I clicked on the box thingy, gave me two options, both the same thing(Online Pass) but one free, the other £8.
Clicked the free one, 35meg download, installed, back, little red bag on both items.
-_-
Mistake? They gonna charge me later? They nuts?
Either way, yeah, I don't have the game yet, might have to now. -
Much better than demo? 15 in amazon. -
It's great. Quests are short so you can play for as long or as little as you want in any one sitting, although they aren't much more than go here, kill this. The combat system is quite polished and the story is ok. It's a ahame the studio shut down, as Amalur 2 could have been fantastic. -

Registered 11 years agoI finished this a few weeks back. Really enjoyable game. A second game could have polished some of the minor negatives, shame! -

Registered 13 years agoIs fun for a while, is ridiculously easy though, especially if yuo do a lot of side quests..
that said I liked the lore and all the area were really pretty.
I've still gotta go mop up the trophies for the plat, expected maxed out detect hidden to show them on the map but it doesnt seem to have so I'll probably have to print out some maps -
The technology seemed sound but I found the actual game too bland, though I can see how it appeals if you're looking for a lengthy but simple action RPG. The size of the team behind it and the various excesses in the development process meant it had to be a massive hit - this middle-of-the-road attempt wasn't going to set the world on fire though. -

Great game, easy to pick up and play for a bit. Or a long time as I often did, due to there being sooo many quests to draw you off on tangents.
Nice little game with decent and fun combat. Sad they have no chance to polish it up for a sequel. -

Registered 12 years agoChrist, I booted this back up yesterday after a three-month hiatus and couldn't believe how clunky the interface looks.
The HUD is absolutely HUGE - the mini-map seems to obscure about a fifth of the gaming window. I actually had to check my PS3's resolution hadn't somehow reset itself to it's lowest default. Did else anyone have this issue? Of course it goes without saying that the menus are excruciatingly archaic and the conversation interface is hideous. I'm just amazed I missed this the first time around.
Add that to the fact that the story has all of the charm and character of a badly soiled copy of The Silmarillion, and it seems pretty clear to me why this game flopped. I'll soldier on with it for now, but KoA is definitely the biggest disappointment of the year for me. -
@enfilade
I gave up on it recently. It looks like a My First RPG with the clunky menus, huge HUD and repetitive environments and combat. I found it lacking in soul.
I switched to Dragon's Dogma and that is also very flawed, and looks very last gen in truth, but at least it has character. -

Registered 12 years ago@Garlvinlandblueblood I've seen Dragon's Dogma mentioned a lot here recently - I may have to give it a go at some stage. I dare say I won't have the time to do it justice, but I'll add it to 'The List' all the same. -

Registered 13 years agoThis is supposedly free for PSN subs today, am looking for a new game to try out and this being at no (extra) cost is the obvious option. But from reading this page it sounds a bit mixed. -

Registered 12 years agoI picked this up on PC a few months back for £2 and while I've got a fair amount of fun out of it, I'm not sure I can be arses after 25 hours. The combat really isn't as smooth as it first looked and it's starting to feel like a bit of a MMO grind. I could forgive this if the story was better but it's as generic as they come.
Such a shame, it feels like it had so much potential. -

Registered 15 years agoIt's a no-brainer man. I personally LOVED this game, and I think that just for the sake of getting to the end of the story, hunting gear, enjoying the combat system, seeing the interesting enemy design and lush world... It's worth it! ^-^
I especially love that in this choosing your character's skill tree leads to very different but always rewarding and doable gameplay. I love my feyblades me... -

It is a cracking game and for free there should be no doubt in giving it a go. I loved the game, but it is a possibly a bit marmite for some folk, you either take to it, or don't I guess.
