Registered 12 years agoAll the best Johanson. My dad went through this about 3 years ago but it worked. It was a rough time for us all but I never doubted he would pull through.
Best of luck to you and it's great to see EG pull together again. I can't possibly know how you feel but wish you all the best. Many people may mock me but I will pray for you. -
Best wishes Jonsaan (belatedly having stumbled over this thread) FCUTA so hard it becomes DarkMorgado's new flatmate. -
Good luck old chap. I'm glad your gaming qi coming back.

Registered 12 years agoQuick update for you folks. It feels a little self indulgent but it's strangely cathartic!
A bit of a setback this week as I came down with a chest infection this weekend. The result of this is that my consultant has decided to drop the drug Bleomycin from my treatment as it is notorious for messing with the lungs. I do get the occasional bout of mild asthma so he said although he wants to cure my cancer, he doesn't want to leave me with permanent lung scarring. So it's gone.
Not the end of the world though as that part of the treatment was a precaution in case I had any other types of cancer present.
I actually have seminoma which is treated with Cisplatin and Etopiside. So now instead of 9 weeks treatement I now have 10 with just the other two drugs. Which he has said is the exact equivalent of what I had before anyway.
The good news is that he can no longer feel the mass in my stomach. This also means pain is pretty rare for me now which is great. It also means that things are shrinking down which can only be a good sign. My blood markers are still insanely high but he says that tends to follow rather than lead if that makes sense.
In case you are wondering, although my condition is testicular cancer, it has progressed to what is known as M1a ( I think). That means it had spread up through my lymph nodes right up to just behind my collar bone.
Work has been fantastic and continues to pay me in full. Pretty amazing when you consider I had only been there 3 weeks when this all kicked off. I had an outreach nurse round here yesterday assisting me with a phased return to some sort of working life which will be good too.
Anyway, thanks for all the thoughts and well wishes. It is hugely appreciated and I am proud to be part of the EG community frankly!

Registered 14 years agoHang in there mate, you'll emerge at the other end with athletic super powers and go on to win gruelling international sporting events.
Did I get it right that you have to go to the hospital for 3 days every 3 weeks?
So if I send a "get well" card here
Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital
Stirling Road
Guildford, Surrey, GU2 7RF
and adress it to Jonsaan. What are the odds it ever gets to you? -

Registered 12 years agoGiven the continued lack of hot nurse reports I think EG is going to have to do the right thing and sort you out with a smoking hot nurse at some point. -
