And supposedly they also got rid of the input lag, which is great news as well.

Oh and yes, I remember now: fully upgraded shotgun FTW.

HDR/FPS Boost is god tier on this game. It's so silky smooth.

God damn it. Might do a fourth (or is it fifth?) playthrough then. I love this game.

Hoping for the Bioshock trilogy to receive the same treatment.

Worth a play then? I thought it was meant to be a bit marmite. Didn't give it a go last gen because of it. Or was it frame rate issues? Which will be fixed now.

It's a great game and definitely worth your time.

It'sike System Shock crossed with Deus Ex and Dishonored.

Hmm, sounds right up my street if it's like those. Wonder why i felt i wouldn't bother with it?

Maybe it came out when i had a gaming inertia phase.

The adverts that they released at the time made it look really meh and didn't show what the game actually played like.

The combat is definitely marmite. I just put 20 shotgun shells into one of the electric baddies to take it down. WTH. However, provided you approach it as a System Shock/Deus Ex-style FPS-lite RPG-lite... you'll get the most out of the game. Don't expect solid gunplay or anything.

The soundtrack is amazing. And the FPS Boost makes it buttery smooth. Loading times are very fast too, which I gather wasn't the case previously.

I'll maybe give it a go then. Getting bored of cod warzone, and an fps to mix with division 2 would be good.

I played it through at the end of last year on PS4 Pro. Great game but I died *a lot* and spent an inordinate amount of time on loading screens.

Going by my experience of how quickly Dishonored 2 loads on Series X, I imagine Prey benefits massively from the SSD loading speed (not to mention 60fps).

It's probably the most overlooked game of last gen, a stone cold classic. Now it's got 60fps, 1440p, SSR, HDR and fast loading it really shouldn't be slept on

The lads in Talos 1 love eels huh.

I'm loving this now - bounced hard off it initially because the combat is iffy. Even now I've levelled up my wee guy and his guns, I can still get obliterated by the baddies easily. Combat is getting better though now that I've upgraded the shotgun and have some alien powers to disable various baddies.

Well, the enemies are supposed to be lethal AF. You need to learn to use the environment: wait until they walk onto a oil puddle or next to a leaky gas pipe to set them on fire. Shoot canisters to blow them up. Put traps in the way of their patrol routes. Use turrents to shoot them. Distract them by throwing something and then stealth past them.

I find flying around in the spacesuit outside Talos 1 so peaceful. They nailed the physics and sounds on that.

I started this a few days ago and am absolutely hooked. I have no idea why I thought it was going to be a bit iffy, it's amazing thus far.

Although those mimics are pretty tough. At least I now have a shotgun which is very helpful. The gloo gun and wrench can only go so far...

The pistol is a bit shit, but I should probably shoot canisters with it instead. I've lobbed a few at the biggish spiky fuckers that you meet in some areas.

    @Vortex808

Glad you're enjoying it! I fucking love it - something to pass the time until system shock 3 comes out at least :)

Have you got the built-in sense of paranoia now when entering new rooms? Honestly, it turned me into a raving loon - I was attacking anything suspicious!

I find the combat good if you combine stuff - like a stun then a finisher, or a shotgun then a psi power etc.

Also the gloo gun is really good for making platforms so you can access areas you wouldn't, or shouldn't, normally be able to get to.

There's something that I can't remember what it's called, but you lob it, and it creates a sort of inverse vacuum and woe betide being in it's radius if it goes off. Lob those at the humanoid sized fuckers. And you get materials from the explosion as a result!

Which is a super useful mechanic in the game btw, the crafting stuff.

I used the glue gun to end the game about 1/3 into it. :).

    The gloo gun is brilliant.

I wanted to get into the space shuttle and didn't see the platform. So I glued my way up the wall in front of it and then jumped across.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a way of getting off the top of it to inside it. But it kept me occupied for a few hours.

It would be great to have a gloo gun in dishonoured.

You glooed your way up to the escape pod platform ?

Yes, the recycling is a lot of fun. I do have some of the break-down grenade things, but as per usual, have been 'saving' them. Like I save mini-nukes in fallout, only to never use them.

I hadn't thought of gloo platforms, despite encountering one in a viewing gallery not that far into it. D'oh!

I do like the maintenence vents and have found a few ways to clamber over stuff. I really need to put more into leverage when i have enough 'survivability'( and hacking) ;-) to get into more areas with what looks like sweet loot.

I have definitely had the paranoia and whacked a lot of stuff, but now have the scope thing which helps. It possibly gives a false sense of security...

I *really* liked the lab room with lots of post-its on stuff with Not a mimic on them. That got a proper GLOL.

I need to do some more side-questing as i have kind of followed the main thing so far.

    Glad you're enjoying it.

Tip with the combat is to use the environment to your advantage rather than take things head on like a normal FPS.

And definitely take on the side quests!

Haha, same with the lab room :) yeah, that was ace!

Also, side bonus - the lifting skill makes a really funny noise when you activate it. It's worth it for that alone.

Side quests are definitely recommended. There's lots to be had by exploring more and doing the sides.

If it makes you feel any better (spoilers for the 'good' ending), none of it matters anyway because nothing is real.

I really liked this game, but man the ending suuuuuuucked.

The ending was a bit anticlimatic, but for some reason I didn't mind it. Maybe I'm used to endings not being up to par after all these years. At least here I could wrap my head around it all as opposed to any JRPG where not only do I not have any clue what is going on during the game, after 17 forms of the final boss and the 5 post-final bosses I don't know what the ending is supposed to be about either.

I got the good ending because, for some reason, I play every game like a saint. I liked that the ending referenced me getting no alien powers, I thought that was a nice touch.

OMFG. I am such a noob.

Last night I realised (quite a few hours in) I can block flames and electricity with the gloo gun.

    /facepalm.

All those areas I could have explored and will now likely have to go back and check for loot...
