I think that you also can definitely logically assume, as you have, that its safe to say that Wii2 will be the same sort of upgrade, it makes total sense. |

I'm one of the few people who didn't rate SMG so much, not sure if it was the wiimote's fault though. I didn't fill me with the magic SM64 did all those years back! -
Well to be totally honest I put about 7 hours into it, thought "fuck this" and put my Wii up for sale on ebay. -

SMG is the only game that's come anywhere near that for me. And yeah, I am a sad fuck. -
^ That's what I was looking for though, I just didn't feel anything at all and so lost interest. -

Registered 15 years agoShame, it's a quality game. Ah well, not the end of the world is it. -
I was probably in a bad mood that day
I've said this many times before, but my favourite game I played on the Wii was F-Zero GX. That realisation is why I sold it

Registered 18 years agoWhat can Nintendo possibly do with a new console that isn't a more accurate Wii like Playstation Move or camera/voice detected like Kinect. I struggle to think what they could come up with other than verging into power glove territory or some sort of body sensor/Kinect camera idea. 3D if it every takes off will be covered by Sony and MS. -

Favourite game for me on the Wii was Eternal Darkness... Which is why I honestly continually wonder why I ever bought it.
Saying that, anyone want to buy a Wii? With a balance board etc? -

Accuracy isn't the issue, it is implementation.

If they can't think of interesting ways to use the technology then the technology is useless. -

There's no 3D platformer which does * really. Which is kinda amazing and sad all at the same time.
SMG pisses all over SM64 IMO
* piss over M64, that is -
There's no 2D platformers better than SMW or SMW2 either. -

I thought SMG worked perfectly with the Wii controller actually. But that's probably not the cool thing to say nowadays.
Mostly. I didn’t like having to shake it to do the spin move. Can’t really remember anything that made the wiimote a necessity. Think it could have worked just as well on a normal controller.
Collecting star bits with the pointer was a big thing too, and I loved that aspect of the game. Basically you were able to control Mario and manipulate bits of the environment (pull stars, sling shots etc.) at the same time, which was genius imo, and probably couldn't be replicated on a normal pad.
This is a pretentious thing to say, but I actually always found that "broke the fourth wall" a bit. I was controlling Mario, not some pointer that can collect things nowhere near Mario. Always found that a bit odd, and for me it was quite obviously devised as a way to justify the controller, not vice versa.
Also can't really see any reason why you couldn't do that with the second analogue stick.
Regardless of whether it was designed to justify the controller or not, it worked superbly and added an extra dimension to the gameplay imo. And it couldn't have been possible with just a second analogue stick, not with the speed and precision that some sections required (doubly so with the implementation of Yoshi in SMG2).
I guess what I'm trying to say is.... we had to rely on Nintendo to make the best use of their hardware, as always. Although No More Heroes also worked extremely well with the Wii controller, that was a bit of an overlooked gem. -

Yeah this. It would be even worse than an FPS on a control pad.

Wait, wasn't Yoshi controlled with the left analog stick? -
Oh was it? I don't remember. I chucked it about half way through. -

I think they'd have their hands full launching two consoles in one year. -
